I need to name a concept art workshop.

I organized a series of mini concept art workshops in Vancouver with local pros. But I have no idea what to call it. It needs to fit easily into conversations:

"Hey, the next _____ is going to be on Storyboarding..."
"Are you going to the ______ concept art workshop next week?"
"Yo, an EA art director is teaching at the next _____ workshop. We should check it out!"

It's the last thing I need to start printing posters, but i haven't been able to think of the one. If you have any good ideas, please post!

done? In all the monthes before Marama, we just called it the workshop. Maybe that was because we never get something like that though..

The Massive Black workshop names seem to be based on the local culture/language (Marama), what will happen (Insomania), etc. Think about a word that would fit, and look for its equivalent in another language.. I guess

Um, "orgasmic drawing experience" fits in all those sentences. I'm pretty sure that must be the correct answer.

A three letter name will slip in if you won’t it to slip in, instead of dudes just referring to "workshop"

    Coy, choi, moi, loa, moa

So maybe designing a n acronym but using that instead of the full name. It needs to flow though. Massibe Black = MB, two consonants, it will get dumped in conversation.
Concept Art = CA, most likely to get used all the time.

Depends on how hard-core they are. You can use

    • Clinic / that's always good.
    • Immersion (3 - 5 day consecutive)
    • Bootcamp (went to one of those once)
    • Waterboard if it's brutal

Simple is usually better if you want it to catch on. Try mashing a few related words together. Artmeet, Conceptcamp, Artpunch, Imagesauce... Yeah, okay, this is pretty hard.

This sounds pretty cool, by the way. When and where is it?

Concepticon is cool, but wouldn't that offend Autobot fans?

Is it coincidence that the thread right above this one is, "Celebrate Nerd Pride Day"?

I think not, the choice is clear.

    • Storyboard "Slug Fest" (as in "slug line")?
    • Thought Twist (really good for concept clinic)?
    • Wacom Waterboard? (still going for the arm twister).

What are your topics? You only have the storyboard subject up. Some of those hybrids seem shop-worn. It's worth really searing your head to find something new. I hope you're not going to be doing to robots and guns thing. That's getting a lot of
    shelf wear, too.

In your selection of topics, one on getting some story and continuity in work would be really good (IMO). One that deals with creating a more fleshed out suite of work rather than single characters. It's a relief to see this, when you do.

Well, you can make a live sketching session during the workshop with the theme of concept boat designs, and have it named Autoboats.

There are'nt always alot of the younger crowds or students who can afford to fly to Italy / Germany on 3 months notice and pay for tuition and hotel, though . Vancouver is a big city too. With a large art college, and alot of game / film studios.
Of course they could still be just going to this while they save for the next CA / MB workshop. Support the community

And I'm pretty sure that, despite the high bar that you've set, MB did not invent the art workshop.
