How is your fitness level?
How many hours do you spend sitting or in front of the computer? Do you balance that with strong morning workouts?
I used to, but I need to get back to it. Long days make me sluggish.

I'm not in front of the comp that much but I spend a lot of time drawing. I walk an hour 5 days a week. Sometimes I go up the nearby mountain.
I've been doing morning workouts for awhile now, mostly body weight stuff because I only got a pull up bar and a single weight. If you do go the freelance route(im spendin close to 10-12 hours infront of the computer daily) and dont get to leave your house often its prettty essential that you exercise... I also try and go for walks at some point in the day. My brother is putting something together for desk bound people on his blog at some point - liberatedfitness.com. I'm helpin him with his site so theres nothin on it really yet. But yea, he helped me with my diet and workout routine to fit my freelance life. Just set up a good balanced workout routine and avoid eating too many starch based foods D:. More energy all around and a clearer head.

i still go to school so im still in good shape, but im still sitting down around 15-16 hours a day... WTF! ( i just freaked myself out) .. eh, anyways, well i think this might sound dumb, but i try to be active when ever i get a chance, for example, i actually am very active in the shower, Lol, I just try excercise in the shower, also i have no car or ride home, so i power walk home from school, Also when i brush my teeth, i find some way to move my legs, LOL. Im 121 pounds, .. i needa find a way to get biggerMy arms are looking a bit puny. OH yeah, and eat healthy!,
i workout at night after all the other activities in the day as a means of draining whatever leftover energy i have. (i'm actually about to go down to the gym after i post this!)
normally i just do situps and pushups until i'm exhausted, but the apartment complex ive been at for the last month has a small 24 hour workout center, so i've been taking advantage of it about 5 times a week, alternating between upperbody and lowerbody. one of my roommates is training to be a pro-wrestler, so i roughly try to keep up with his workout (only doing a lot less weight).
but then i eat a diet of nothing but sugar and grease and never really see any changes in my body.
I ride my bike as much as possible.
This is a great way to get exercise. You get to spend time outdoors, so you can avoid those stuffy gyms full of meatheads.
And it's easier to commit to completing a workout session if you set a destination, and and then have to pedal home on the return.
Active body, active mind.
i'm currently working a manual labour job so that takes care of the physical side of things when i can get work, when im not work regularly i use the gym, but im thinking of trying this thing out http://theabschallenge.ning.com/page/week-1 if you watch that video then check out the newer ones it looks pretty good, wake up in the morning, do the workout, go make art.

I get nauseated if I do my workouts in the morn. I leave it till around 9 at night. I've been at a gym for 4 years now and to stay motivated I have friends that come along with me. You know strapping yooung bucks..that sort of thing.![]()
Screw working out. Drink some beers, eats some cakes, and lets have fun.
I work out quite a bit, in face I'm going out to work with kettlebells after I post this. I do a lot of bike riding as well as my strength training and stretching for my tricking hobby. If I had money I would still be taking martial arts.
When I'm in front of the computer I'm either on CA or looking up references. It's nice to have that balance (Plus I sit on one of those work out balls so I balance in more ways than one).

I have the privelage of having weightlifting as a classBeginning of last year i was completely scrawny and now i can lift probably 2-3x the weight i could before. IF anything, its a major confidence boost

There are a lot of exercises which you can do on the spot without any tools. It's great for short breaks. Push-ups, Squats, Sit-ups are just some examples, and you can vary those in many ways to use different muscle groups and change load. Sometimes I just improvise and flail my limbs around until I get exhausted.
If you're not moving at all, almost anything is an improvement. I try to make my workout spontaneous, because over-optimizing generally leads to me not getting started at all. That's why I don't like gyms and why I prefer on-the-fly workout.
Eating less seems to be more important if you want to lose weight though, because you have to work out a lot (hours) to use up the energy from that extra burger, soda and candy bar which you didn't really need.
Edit: Also eat varied. It's not the end of the world if some junk sneaks in every now and then, because if you vary then you'll also stumble across some healthy stuff. Stews are incredibly easy to make, you can throw almost anything into them. I've started using Quorn as 'meat' for my stews. Chopping some random vegetable in adds a little 'chew' because Quorn is kinda lacking in that department. You can serve with rice, pasta, quinoa, wheat, or a whole bunch of other stuff which you just throw into a pot and boil.

I'm with Kei on the bike riding. If you live in a pretty decent sized city (Phoenix for me) then most of the places you need to go on a day to day basis can be found within 5 - 10 miles, which is a pretty short ride on a bike. I ride mine when I go to the book store in search of references, bank, or anywhere I don't need to carry back a lot of crap. When I have a destination in mind and a reason for going there, I don't get as bored as I use to when I tried to get my cardio on a treadmill or elliptical.
Yeah, it's a good idea to mix errands and workout. I have a mall a few km from here which I bike to (for some reason it's always headwind), but now when I've started running again (and it's summer) I could walk there and run home perhaps... unless I'm buying ice cream, because I'm not that fast.

I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 4-5 days a week. It's the only thing I've done that I haven't gotten bored with.
I try and stay in shape, half an hour on the exercise bike a couple of times a week, with a couple of dumbbell reps after the biking. I also use my powerball during youtube breaks, reading mail/forums etc.
I'm trying to get into the weight loss i had going, but a 3 month stay abroad recently stagnated that, as well as the exercise.
I also need to get better at the simple exercise of standing up and stretching, since my back can't take long hours infront of the computer. Yet still i do it..
i was on a steady regiment of hitting the elliptical 5 days a week until my elliptical broke. Now i've been fighting with the makers of the elliptical to cash in on my warranty. a month or so later, still not fixed, still no exercise.

I'm a competitive powerlifter and a personal trainer. I got into fitness a few days after the 2005 CA San Fran workshop (I was around 145 and somewhat athletic but scrawny and weak).
I do spend long hours in front of a computer on weekends drawing and painting but I take breaks often through out the day to exercise.
During the weekday I workout all day (lifting heavy) while training clients in between. When I come home from work I use the rest of my time for art.
I work out every day and I vary it up a lot depending on the season. Come spring/summer, I hate being inside so I run, swim. Come fall and winter, I lift weights and keep running. I also joined a boxing gym last winter and that was great and I've got a heavy bag and double ended bag in my garage which I pretty much hit every day.
Two constants for me though, no matter what. I picked up Yoga about 10 years ago in college and it's the best thing I've ever done, particularly if you sit a lot. It's medicine for the back. I also try and stand when I'm at a computer or drawing. You can build a reasonably cheap standing workspace, either by building a standing desk(which i did) or by buying one. And have a drafting chair handy when you get fatigued.
The human body wasn't made to sit for 8 hours a day.
I got into a period of working out a decent amount, then of course I kinda slumped back into laziness. I still work out from time to time though. I've got a 40 lb. weight training vest that I wear when exercising, or just messing around (I like to exercise while not actually exercising if that makes sense). Anyone else been working out or something and you reach the point where you're so out of breath you don't think you'll ever catch your breath again?
i made a getto' gym cause i cant afford to go to a real one but mine works just the same an dosen't cost anything http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1242082716
That looks like a gym for ninjas.
I run track. I usually run around 40 miles total per week, so that gives me plenty of exercise.
Well... I did take a three hour walk couple of days ago. But that's probably because i've been lazing off and needed some exersice for a change...
Also... I wanna be a ghetto Ninja too![]()

I trained in Aikido for 10 years or so (1996-2006).
I also used to lift weights 3-4 days a week, I even competed in a few strength/strong man type competitions.
Haven't done either for a few years, so now I'm fat, lazy and about to turn 40. Not a good combination.
I started hitting the gym at the Uni 4 days a week. my old roomie does cage fighting and I started working out with him. Im back home now, a bum and all I do is fish. I do walk to the lake though...
Was cramming for AP for a while and didn't do much but im about to get back into it. I have a chin up bar and a weight bench right next to my paints so both of them stare me down until I comply to their activities. Just make sure if you want to build any size that you get some MEAT afterwards; if you're vegetarian have beans and MILK and if you're veagan, well good luck with that.
