    Concept: Brain Thief
A horrible beast with an exposed glowing brain! This creature hunts for brains, tracking down the largest brained creature it can find and gnawing through it's skull. Its bio-illumination and appearance are horrifying to the intelligent creatures that it stalks. The victum his rendered helpless by the hallucination inducing spores that beat from the wafting cilia that line its back.

    Concept: Cerebral Colossus
The Cerebral Colossus has managed to carve out an existance for itself on a planet of darkness, nothing but starlight can be seen from the surface. An interesting fact about the colossus is that it appears not to need to eat, nor does it have any visable sensory organs other than its skin, the only viable hypothosis is that it produces energy internally, this idea is given more credit due to the itense size of its glowing, pulsating brain, which appears to need constant ventalation via a large opening sourounding the top of the brain, thus exposing the pulsating mass to the surounding -300 degree temperitures. most believe the creature has evolved past the need for sensory input, traditional communication or sustinence of any kind, in theory this one specimin could be 1000's of years old.

    Concept: Yakoar
The Yakoar has a large glowing brain which gets longer and longer as it lives. The tip carries its youngest memories, and its entire life is revealed leading towards the front of the brain. Its a shame really this creature leads a very dull life, eating leaves and leading travelers through darkened forests and pathways, but it always remembers the way!

    Concept: bio-luminescent brain widow
The rare brain widow uses a form of mental EMP to stun its prey. It attracts by use of bio-luminescent pods over its body, as well as the fluid surrounding its brain. It venom isn't as potent as some, however it is highly necrotic and can dissolve a human in only a few hours. Though it rarely will attack a mammal that large.

Concept: Mentis Nare aka "Flying Dutchman"

The entity dubbed the "Flying Dutchman" of the recently discovered gas nebula N-45 makes colonization nor exploration of the cloud impossible, if the fierce and constant magnetic storms do not cripple or destroy a ship, the psionic force of the Dutchman would drive any crew or colony to insanity. These ghostly creatures simply float out in the turbulence feeding on the constant energy of the nebula, their glowing minds serving as lethal beacons to any passing merchant ship.

    Concept: Vidnaxian
Sent to hostile planets to document and categorize life and the threat posed by unstable cultures throughout the galaxies, these beings are the emissaries for their home planet Vidnax 9. Encountering dangerous and often malevolent lifeforms in their journeys among the planets, the Vidnaxian scouts use the gift of telekinesis and powerful thought transference to disable and study their specimens. Here we see a scout dealing with one of the most unruly and disagreeable life forms in the small galaxy known as the Milky Way.

But why should it?

On a swamp-planet cloaked in eternal night many of the land based animals use tactics to entice prey as our deep-sea fish do. Such an example is the Cerebulus, a common predator that uses its work like translucent tail and bioluminesance to tempt small mammals and the occasional bird to its waiting jaws.

    Concept: Fraakurii
The fraakurii of Idius Prime are typically a docile creature by nature but when the planets twin moons are full on the same night the strange light charges the fraakurii brains and fills them with a terrible energy. Once the light infusion has reached its climax the fraakurii brain will glow and the creatures will become crazed, scurrying frantically across the landscape. These events are very rare happening once every five years however they take a devastating toll on the fraakurii population, as the fraakurii will scramble headlong into sharp rock formations that litter the landscape.

Hey all. I only discovered this site on Thursday, so hopefully my entry isn’t too late

    Artist: timtim

    Concept: Darwin's Torchbird

An unfortunate confirmation of Darwinism, the Torchbird came to be by a chance evolutionary leap, resulting in an ancient species of parrot-like creature developing a bioluminescent brain underneath a paper-thin transparent skull. Upon discovering that its uncovered brain acted like a natural bug attractant, the Torchbird found that the ever present swarm of insects negated the need to hunt for food. Over the next few generations the Torchbird gradually lost its feathers through lack of use, becoming a species of grossly overweight, tree-dwelling flightless birds. Tastes like chicken, apparently.

    Concept: Specimen A015 'Wipers'

Area 51 Files, recorded in 1987
The fifteenth of the first extra-terrestrial creatures to be recorded, found as a sort of 'pet' on a crashed alien spacecraft. Their brain possesses a unique frontal lobe and an amazing amount of electrical activity, using approximately 70% of their brain function. Combined with their translucent body and high electrical performance, the cerebral cortex of the critter apears to glow, noticeable primarily in the dark.Though able to use 70% of their brain, these creatures are not gifted with high intellegence, these crittors only survive and cannot comprehend complicated concepts alike to human beings. They gain nutrients through 'feeding' on brain activity, seemingly eating away unwanted, unremembered and out of mind memories... though guards have been noted for sudden memory loss when near the synthetic-environment base resorvoir.

I voted for Tom Gardner mostly for his brains .... hahaha, no - what I mean is that his depiction of brain matter is the furthest from human. Even though I think his creatures is very well rendered, I appreciate that an alien's brains may not look human in configuration. So I vote for the alien with the most non-human brains.
