    stuff

had really fun with sketchup and kerkythea lately,
i didnt know anything about them until i found ca.
    so...my sketchupstuff go here...
just finished with an old tram,
not very detailed but still enough to get sketchup go really slow.
i need to get deeper into kerkythea before i try any fancy render.

c&c are nice, more to come, i work slow.

I like it!. Performance wise... if you post the file I could take it apart for you and give some tips on how to optimize. One thing I see most beginners not taking advantage of is the use of components, the other is using the default circle segment amount. If you are already running into slow downs its only going to get worse as you add more detail.

Are you planning to paint over the render or are you going for a full on rendered look?
Ideas are easy. Making them real is hard.

    cheers! happy you like it.
as you can see i think it was the paving stone i added under the tram that
killed the speed. i wanted to make that kind of ground over the entire street but thats not gonna happen.

yeah i use components if you are thinking about working on only one half
of a model and let the flipped copy just grow along.
the circle segment amount i sometimes use default or 48s.

i was actually planning on both a kerkythea render and a paintover,
i'll post it up here when/if i get it done.
i want to make the materials myself in ps and really try to get full comprehension on materials and rendering.

i guess cracks and bumps in the asphalt would be better with a bumpmap
than trying to make them in sketchup? how detailed does a model need to be bfore rendering?
yeah stuff like that i dont know yet, lots of trial and error =)

thanks for your time and reply!
