Yeah good job on the greyscales, it seems to really be hammering home some good foundations. Keep it up! High contrast photos like that are great for simplification of detail, but remember that not many normal lighting conditions have lights like that, so look for some low and mid key images to work from as well.

Focused more on the values than details on this one, got this one down much more faster (about 2.5 hours I think?)

Im gonna install Linux today, so I'll be quite busy to say the least, I hope I'll return soon enough though

Yeah you are starting to get this down pat. You didnt sell the complex forms of the cloth though, go back and touch that up and pay close attention to the planes.

Remember to do creative work inbetween studies and focus on applying what you learnt, that is the way to really hammer it home .

Nice, nice stuff! The value studies are really coming along great so far. Do keep those up. As I mentioned to you previously, the enviro in post #42 is fantastic. I'd like to see more of all of this. Looks great! Paint more!

Linux, and other stuff was keeping me away for a few days (in short, after failing to run PS properly, I ditched it and returned to XP).

    -----------------------------------------------------

this is today's study - this thing was immensely hard!
    about 6 hrs total
I'm just gonna leave it as it is, since I don't feel like gettin into the little details.
I'll pick something I can manage next time.

And two doodle pages done on a bus - which are pretty lame, no need to note that

here's another one to practice more saturated colors (something Ive learned from the previous study).

*A friend noted that the reflection might be too far/small, making the ball "float" abit (or just making it inconsistent), well, maybe next time

Today I was just mindlessly doodling nothing, I spent hours erasing and redoing really bad stuff...
No need to say today was a really odd and unproductive day.

This 9 hrs routine is proving to be hard - especially when I have little to show for it, I tend to doodle too much and I hope I'll change that soon enough.

Hey buddy, nice stuff ! For the colors studies on the previous update, with the 2 cubes, just be carreful with perspective, the vanishing points seems to be too close, it creates distortions ! If you take a picture of a city and watch the vanishing points, they are really far from each other ! For the last nude study, the torso looks really big ! Something i do is to flip the canvas horizontaly. You'll see all the mistakes easily ! Keep it up

Love the color studies! Your anatomy could use some work though...mainly when it comes to proportions. Keep up the studies!

Hey man this ones pretty damn sweet!
    http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1247341662

For the 2 hr study of the chick you did, I would gray scale the colored reference image, and maybe even increase its size so you're working at the same aspect ratio as the reference, so that both reference and your canvas are side by side. Also watch your proportions, be sure to measure and get those proportions down. Keep it up man!

Hey brewin . It's good to see you're doing these studies, but I would recommend that you take more time mapping things out. See the relationship between the shapes. For example post #71. Her breasts are more closer to each other. The negative space between her chest and arm is different. Just take a little bit more time. But most of all keep doing these, you'll get better and better at these. But I think you will improve even faster if you pay attention to those things

Been really busy these last few days, so there were no updates yeah I suck

    --------------------------------------------------------

Lyno I will pay more attention next time, I was slacking and there's no excuse for it.

agelaos I tried to make it harder for myself so I didn't put it side by side/grayscale it, well I guess I'm not ready for that yet (?)

jackpot_anjr90 you're right! I should do more anatomy studies, I need to work harder

Nice work! The colors are improving with the latest photo study! Keep working on the skin though and make sure you follow form with your strokes and that your not just filling in areas with color. Keep it up!

Nice updates, liking the cat! You should watch your lines though, they seem a bit messy, and "furry" if you know what i mean. Next time try to keep your lines as simple as possible, and use as few lines as possible. Keep on hard working!

That value study is awesome. It may have taken a long time, but I think you should do more things within that time frame. You will naturally become faster, and then your quicker paintings will benefit as well. keep it up

your refs are pretty good! your problem lies in imagination. More refs and studies will help that but dont stop drawing from your head or you'll never get good at it.
