The exorcism of Iridyse (update in first post!)

Gar, guardian of the skies of Eithanas.

Firstborn of Qiane and Malech, the ugliness of Gar was just a physical manifestation of the evil that lurked behind the beauty of his parents. Shunned at birth by his mother and left to fend for himself, Gar feeds off the souls of infants and the unborn. He guards the skies of Eithanas, one of the three exits from the world of illusions.

One of the deities of Eithanas. Kinara dreams up and brings to life wispy entities infused with magic who grant the wishes of all those they meet.

Sidharth Chaturvedi: Thank you very much! Twisted creatures are always fun to draw

andyhunt: Thanks! That's one of my fav images too. I'm working (very very slowly) on a book of silly monsters and hopefully there will be a lot more of these little things in the future.

TyraWhite: Hehe, thank you so much!

Teundeboer:Aye aye cap'n! Updates soon! Thanks for stopping by

Chupacabra: You're so awesome Thanks for the encouragement and the inspiration!

ADStudio: Thanks! I think I need to work on getting more spontaneity in my life studies (I guess being a texture painter has its disadvantages) It's been 3 years since I did my last batch and I need some more practice before I can hit the oils again.

I just thought I'd post some closeups here. I don't even know why I went so detailed on the birdman head. It was faster than it seems, mainly because I love pushing the details but then there was such a disconnect with the rest of the body and background and such..I learnt my lesson

    Great paintings.

I'm reading the textures on the creature's head as very soft. Like cotton. Not sure if it was intended.

you always manage to get that lovely, slightly sickly translucent quality to your skin and flesh tones, its very iconic of your style and i love it

    DoctorPencil: Thank you very much!

    daveneale: Thanks!

Pigeonkill: Thank you! To be honest I wasn't really thinking about the texture of the back while I was painting it, but I liked the softness and decided to keep it like that then.

    Dusty: Thank you very much!

cgaddict: Thanks George! The feeling is very mutual

    dTb: Thank you!

Whos_the_who : Thanks! I'm glad you like the colors, they gave me such a headache when I was trying to decide between variations ( for the bird guy atleast)

    Heifsin85: Thanks for stopping by!

    juicy: Thank you!

ALEXANDRE da Vinci: Thank you very much!

arghmisfit : Thanks! I have a slightly disturbing story to go with it too. Updated in the first post

The Original [E] : Thank you! Unfortunately all digital. I need to get back to doing some more traditional pieces, I miss it!

Pandanus : Thanks! I don't really overlay textures. I make a lot of textured brushes and use textures within the brush itself, I find that easier to control.

stoph : Hehe, thanks ! Subsurface scattering FTW!

    JPagan : Thank you!

    miracola : Thanks a lot!

Just finished up a piece for Exotique 5, update in first post.

    Thanks for stopping by!
