Why?
Well, I've gotten into a habit of lurking CA and I decided a Sketchbook would be a good way to track my Progress. Please do comment as I believe whole heatedly that others advice can help one improve.

Me
I am currently 20 years of age a Junior in College and reside in Sunny Florida. I am attending Ringling college of Art and design and Majoring in Illustration. I currently love doing both traditional and digital art. I am always working to improve myself as a person and artist.

Thanks for the advice I've been doing a lot of pencil sketches and studies, But my scanner is on the Fritz.... Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to scan some of my pencil work :]

Hmm.. anatomical indeed but let me add..Search for books from bridge field, andrew loomis and other anatomy books. Draw a few people waiting or sitting down in the park. Look and draw what you see.

Never forget though... With one step taken, even a journey of a thousend miles doesn't seem as long. So keep walking!!

It's been difficult for me to work on Anatomy mostly because I can't afford books and my school is quite strict on studies like the nude form. However I do try in my spare time to practice >w<

looks like your off to a pretty good start. Anyway I saw a few things you could improve on and I did a few quick paint overs, hope you dont mind.

Some of the noses you have drawn are a little flat, be careful to project the nose out of the face. The nose projects out along a axis perpendicular or normal to the front facial plane(see notes). you also have to make sure your drawings are not flat by overlapping forms more, especially when your drawing is foreshortened.

Look through the high rated mentor threads and the tutorial stickies, keep at it.

Today I was hit by some inspiration, and decided I needed to work on more Dynamic Posing as well as blocking in color/Coloring in general. I tried, this was done without a reference photo, basically Imagination stuff. I have a lot more work, but I can't upload most of it yet (Since it's on the school computer!)

Pushed it a little further, Decided to block in a background setting and add in ambient light, as well as Fix the neck x.x;

Wow XxMikaruxX you really have improved. Your last two posts show a lot of good tonal work and the anatomy is really coming along. Do you always work in digital or do some of these start off as pencil sketches. Would be great to see some more of your working drawings.

Thanks! This is also over the course of two years, but I feel like I have come a long way! I don't always work in digital, but as I don't have a quality scanner on hand all the time it is easier for me to post my digital work (Since the files are already here!) But I will get around to scanning some of my Thumbnailing and ideation sketches I suppose.

Sorry for all of the Digital Updates, I've been doing a lot of Animal and Anatomical studies in my Sketchbook but I don't have access to a scanner >.< Here's a self portrait Study, Done within two or so hours.

Hey guys! Been a while. Dumping quite a few things! First I'll start off with an old environment illustration I did last year (2011!) Figured I had a lot of figurative things so wanted to break up the monotony!



Here are some painting studies from figure class, most of these were done in the 3-6 hour range.







Next I have some logo work, I was trying to come up with an interesting artist icon to include on newer illustrations


Some silhouette practices. I've never used this method before but it was fun! The WIP is the newer one, I've just been so busy I haven't had the time to finish sadly!




And last but not least I have for you guys a billboard illustration. This particular illustration was done for a product called Pumpkinhead Rum

Here we have my character concept from computer illustration! At first he started out as a serial killer, but I quickly scrapped that idea and instead thought of him to be a "Demon in disguise", killing humans at his butcher shop and selling their flesh off to other demons.



I was pretty unhappy with the way the original turned out, so I did some more brainstorming...




Happier with this resolution of him, I'm taking this version and creating an environment for him to be in. These are roughs of course. The first was my original sketch, and the messier second sketch is me messing with composition to make it more interesting an intriguing. I have a lot of work in regard to color and value now but I wanted to make sure I had a rocking composition!

Here's the Final of the Mass Effect 3 Game Guide I did as an assignment. Learned a lot, and this was a super ambitious undertaking. I'm not too terribly good at environments and there are some issues with Garrus (From a poor Reference image I shot) but time to move on and work even harder on my next assignment
