Followed the instructions this time... it was hardonly using 2 hues to represent a piece one warm and one cool color, only changing the value of that hue.

hi man, sup ? well, from what i see, i think your biggest weakness is on colors ! You're not thinking too much about the color temperature, so for some photos that are saturated, you paint them with desaturated colors, and for photos that are desaturated, you paint them with saturated colors ( check out the last 2 paintings you've done ! ) i know you might heard here and there that values are more important than colors, and i even told it to some peoples, that " you can put any colors on good values, it'll look good " well, it's true in a sense that you still have to use complementary colors, and warm/cold stuff ( warmer in the light, colder in the shadow, if it's orange in the light, then add a bit of blue, or grey orange, so it looks blue in your shadow ! ) If you don't folow these "rules " , you might create an awesome light with values, but if you can't render the beauty of the light with the colors harmony, then your painting will still be a fail .... so keep working hard man ! and try to do some life painting on photoshop ^^ it's hard, but worth trying, you'll improve by leaps and bounds !
kikindaface: Ah yes need to practice practice practice, colour is so hard though :'( but your right life paints are totally the way to go. Especially now that i have some kind of grasp on value. Eh? I'll just work back and forth when I'm weaker in an area. Thanks for the critique man really appreciate it.

Hey remmy! I think the studies are looking good. Since you asked for critz, I will give it a shot. For the atmospheric perspective, project number 5, I would think that the trees in the background should probably be in the gray/blue hue and not the green one. If you compare your picture to the original, it looks like you moved the background to the foreground, and in the original the trees melt together with the mountains in the back rather than with the grass in the front.
I like your pencil rendering teqnicue. Keep up with the Bridgeman studies! Even if I never did any of those, I probably should and I can tell that they are important. Overall looking good, keeeep it up, bro! (sorry for messy post, I've been awake all night and it's almost 7AM)
Would he walk upon the water If he couldn’t walk away?
And would you, Would you carry the torch for me?
hey jeremy! took a gander at your earlier posts and i must say i'm starting to miss the digital paints :3 but i think right now you're taking the right direction in steering to more traditional studies such as with the bridgman onesi think also doing more still life and observational drawings traditionally will help you improve tons (you can also do the colored still life digitally ;3). but remember to keep a nice balance between your studies and imagination as well !

New sketch diary for some dailies
As seen with the Fat Dude in a BOX ha ha random hey
Life study from my humble bumble desk...
raminafshari: Thanks man more to come
Evergrey: Ah yey thanks for the crit, i can see that ay not enough depth. I actually tried a new depth experiment with my life study, i used the sharpen tool to bring certain parts of the object forward. I now realised that it reminds me of some of the work I've seen. Must say its quite quick and effective.
teapo: I take your advice seriously sir, ha ha. But yeah i did a life as you and others have sugested. I'm going to try and keep them up. As you said balance in the types of studies is important. I find that very true. Thanks for dropping by too.

Awesome work here, Jeremy. I really like you for showing up the steps you did, and I like your very good lines. Its not so rough and messy as mine...Keep up practicing - you're doing a very good job!
Yours, Steffen
Hi Jeremy, for your environment photo studies, I think your backgrounds (mountains and stuff) are too saturated and lack the hues from the sky. Like in post #64 you can see a clear difference between the mountains from the photo and your painting. The same in the other study.
A trick I use is how further away how less saturated and less contrast / details an object has.
Hope this helps!
great update jeremy! thanks for showing us the process of the still life. it's a good work flow you have going-- from the general big strokes of color and then later defining the form. i think perhaps having a range of different sizes of brushes when u render will make it look more 'organic' ? not sure, but try playing around with the brush size if your tablet allows the pen pressure![]()
anyway, fat guy in a box-- i lol'd :3 keep posting and studying!

new diary entry ha. a subtle affinity with Morrigan.
also QUESTION: Is their any good pens or what ever really, to do finer detailed work. At the moment i use a 0.1, all the way to 0.7 pigmant ink. I like it i guess just that it bleeds and that i hate. I probably just need to use it better. but i'm curious to what else might be out there. I want to play around more with different mediums in this diary. Its not a mole skin... actually i don't even know what a moleskin is... google ha ha. anyway BAM!
Blauringkraken: Practice!!! ha ha thanks man
Lyno: Ah thank you sir! i shall endeavor to apply that next enviro paint.
teapo: Yeah i was wondering why it was so hard to paint this time... realised at the end that photoshop didn't register my tablets pressure in accordance to brush width. FAIL... its all good, i probably learned something ooo.

Oh, I definitely like your colours in the last piece! You're using a lot of diffenent hues, and you're working well with the foreground-middleground-and-background idea. However I feel that the darkness of the silouette doesnt really match the ground where he is standing.. He feels to dark and kinda out of place. Maybe try to make the shadows on the wall a bit darker, so that it is more obvious that there really is a high contrast everywhere and not only on the character. I hope you understand what I mean
On a sidenote, the fat man in the box is hilarious. Gotta say I love your pencil rendering. Regarding your question, I'm using Sakura microns and they work fine for me. Don't know what kind of pencils you are using though, the bleeding can also depend on the paper me thinks.

oh? what's this sexy morrigan fan art? ;3
cool to see you messing more with silhouettes and colors in the last digital! i request more studies! :3

kudos for work through the peer project.
for pens you can get 0.05 an 0.03 copic mutiliners but bleed has a lot todo with paper, or just draw bigger and your pens will seem smallerand try dip pens cus they are cool!
with your cross hatching i'll quote speed "The lines of shading following a convenient parallel direction unless prominent forms demand otherwise" from the practice and science of drawing
keep fighting the good fight j-dawg
Loving your environment pieces and the way you apply colour. Thanks for commenting and giving me feedback on my sketchbook![]()
ah so many assignments! no excuses actually because i love what i do ha ha
so for the enviro i realised i can't paint detailed enviros without prior knowledge
of basic materials like the shadow and angle and texture that rock forms. so...
yeah i'm going to go do some thumbnails in my off time of basic forms of rock.
Also Bumskee released his brush set which i used everywhere,
you should check it out, the link is at the end of his SB. The dudes a friken legend.
Evergrey:Ah thank you, and yes no real attempt their to create realistic or even representative light their but hey i was focusing on colour. ha ha. but you are right i need to think a little more before i apply my objects into the background. Oh and pens thank you again.
teapo: AND studies you shall have sir!
adamsimons: ah yes the paper, thank you for taking the time to direct me. I'll have a look at those links for sure.
Lii-chan: thx, i got allot of enjoyment out of your sketchbook.
