    Cow owlies' sketchbooook

    Hello, my name is Anastasia, welcome to my sketchbook! I am sixteen.
    I come from the soft lands of deviantart, hoping for some heavy critique, just like everyone else, for I am still in my nascent stages.

    I've been meaning to post here for a while, but I always got really, really nervous. . v .

    Anyway, you'll soon see that my art is all over the place. I would really appreciate any feedback at all to help me along!

    Thank you very much for looking!

    A small study of a photo I did to test my eye, it didn't turn out too well, the windows are all wonky. (After this I'm going to start studying perspective seriously! )

    apple study I did for about an hour, it was my first try. (I actually did this before the portrait above.) I realize that I should have removed the sketchy outline of it now. ` _ ` ;

    Hey owlies, thanks for stopping by my sketchbook, great studies here, keep it up! I dont' really have any criticism except the perspective seems a bit off in the third drawing ,which you already pointed out

    Brilliant style. Love the charcoal looking texture on the street view. Also owl concept is striking and very well done. I want to see more like owl one! Keep up the good work!

    Wow, thank you so much for your kind words guys! ; ___ ;

    @Steeliebob: Thank you, I will definitely continue. (:
    @sammfshields: aa you're very welcome, thank you for visiting mine! I'll do some perspective studies so that in the future things will be less wonky.
    @crawlenator: Thank you so much! : D I'll definitely do more nature-focused traditional things like the owl one, eventually I want to direct my style that way, it appeals to me.

    --
    Back to posting; here is another assortment of some old things.
    That last one took an eternity for me to do, something like 40 hours. It wasn't really my favorite subject matter, and I was stupid and didn't get any references so I had a very difficult time. I would really like some critique on it, please! Hopefully I can fix it up digitally. ; _ ;
    I was already told that the left guy's arm is too long, but anything else? ):

    Thanks for looking!

    I agree to Crawlenator you are on a great way of creating a style here. The thing about style is that it is something that should keep evolving! always keep doing sill experiments.

    From the last one i really like the chess image, but I think it could be improved by making the different pieces more distinct. putting one piece on a horse, giving the queen a crown and the kin a scepter. Well you get the idea.
    Please, excuse me for the possible errors in my English.

    Great start! loving those owls you first posted, the 3rd one on post #2 is great! yes, you do have to work with perspective (as you said), the watercolor of the birds is very nice
    and so is the 5th one on the same post, the winter one, anyways, keep posting!

    Really beautiful sketchbook owlies

    I love the illustration of the owls, and the 2 birds look ace. I'd like to see more animal studies as I think you have a real talent for them.

    Look forward to seeing more

    Hi there welcome, I hope you post some more stuff, I like your classical approach.
    I don't have any critique, other than FILL YOUR SBOOK UP ! I really like #2 the
    close up drawing with the eyes. You take a lot of time for this SKETCH, I have
    the problem that people say I draw to fast.

    Hello, I am very very sorry for my disappearance! ; __ ;
    It was summative season for the past while in school, and I was overwhelmed with work for 9 different courses at the same time.
    Now is exam time, but exams end next Thursday and then I'm free to spend as much time on art as possible! :{D

    You guys are so kind, I don't know how to respond.. Thank you all for your input! ; __ ;

    @Gpozzo- Thank you so much for stopping by! I'm glad you like them. (:
    @cloverbat- Thank you, and no problem. ^ _ ^
    @sammfshields- Thank you very much for sticking by, I appreciate it!
    @kevintk- Thanks so much!
    @Jacky-Boy- Wow, thanks for stopping by! I will definitely do more animal illustrations in the future.
    @iven- Thank youu T _ T I will!

    Anyway, here is my (meager) update, a sketchdump of doodles, mostly stylized, still experimenting all over the place with styles and coloring, so there's no consistency whatsoever

    whoops now you all know I like to draw anime-ish things sometimes.. heh
    In the next post I'll be sure to have better stuff!
    I'll get to work as soon as Thursday rolls by! I'll go back to studying for my exams for now.

    Whoa, what a long time since I've posted! ):
    My laptop broke early in the summer and I could not draw digitally for a long time. Still, I need more self-discipline.
    Here are some (of the more successful) studies I have done recently, and in-class drawings of classmates. I am still not very good in capturing likenesses quickly! I will continue studying watercolor as well, which I have a lot of difficulty with.

    hi there

    i'm glad to see some great quality in your drawings.

    keep the texture on your drawing it gives them richeness

    as a critic:

    you lines become crisp in these arms studies and the forshortened lying man. always try to loosen, more and more the looser your drawing the better people will like it (if you're looking for that of course)

    if you want do studies, go for it : draw structures, draw cylinder and cubes ...

    your anime like drawings are really great and have some sort of style: i like them very much. hope to see more of them

    and now post moooooooooore

    zou, thank you for your comment and helpful critique! I appreciate that you looked at my sketchbook very much.
    I will try to loosen up my lines, I also have liked the look in other people's work. I feel like my lines are still very uncertain and scratchy.

    Also forgot to upload these two: the cover of my school sketchbook, and a stylized experiment with colors I would not normally use. Very very simple but messy, haha ;;

    Hey! Thanks for the kind words in my sketchbook, much appreciated

    Nice to see you develop your own style through the use of both traditional and digital, really digging it so far! And no need to be nervous, wish I was half as dedicated back when I was your age

    Hey! thanks for the comment! I really admire your watercolor work. I don't have much to crit really, you're exploring different media which is good. Just keep working hard and doing anatomy studies, you're making fine progress
    The master study in post 2 is particularly good.

    Thanks for visiting my sketchbook! You have a very good eye for values and colors, which will definitely help you a lot. The only thing I noticed that you might want to work on is making your studies a little less scribbly and be more confident in your line. I am in love with that drawing/painting you did of that boy. It is really beautiful!! You are on the right track, keep it up =]

    I got the chance to do a lot of figure drawing recently, and I tried to make my drawings more confident, like you said, Amber Marie! (I've still got a lot of work to do though.. ) I thought that working with pen would help me work towards that because a hairy line would be really noticeable and unattractive.

    The roses in my house were in bloom, so I tried to draw them in pen. I didn't know how to go about shading the delicate shadows among the petals so I just outlined them. I ought to learn crosshatching I guess.

    and a rough doodle, I will make a clean version of this later.

    Also my birthday happened recently (kind of), 17 now. ): Getting old, need to work harder! Lots of great 17-year olds and younger on here that work much harder than me.
