Hey Ian!
Your stuff looks better and better from each post. Keep it up.
Even though your last self-portrait is still a WIP, I would suggest to change the background color.
Right now the black works like a completely white canvas, so you see the colors too saturated.
Try to change it to a low contrasted brown or so.
Anyways, I hope I could help.![]()
thanks! yeah still not sure what i'll do with the background but i'll play around
here is the start of a character layout:
I drew this character a while ago as the main character of a big story... I still like the story but I wanted to update him. This is from 2 years ago: http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/...GideonChar.jpg Boy I hope I've progressed enough in that time :<
Made this really crude test animation today:

Hey Ian,
Nice stuff you have here! Love the bug guy and the bull thing, your more graphic characters are also looking good. Question: did you use the lasso tool to make the armor on the bull thing piece?

Hello Ian, you have got a very nice sketchbook here. nice study of self portrait on the bus, really captured the reflection and the light very well. The rendering on the bull thing looks very professional.

Tea: ThanksNo, that was all just brushes. I usually over-paint with my brush and then use a hard eraser to cut away and leave it looking clean.
Hyunjae: thanks much!
Polly: It's up there in the thread tools, and you can go under Quick Links at the top to get to your threads. thank you a bunch! Hopefully will have lots of updates for you in the future
Made a few changes to that last thing:

Looking good man, i'd say buff the darkness in your crevice shadows even more to make them really read.![]()
I love these peeps.
I agree with Ludic, it looks like you´re focusing more on hue and saturation, but if you really want the forms to read, value is the most important. ( Like you did on the bull thing!)
Also, on the self portrait, the eyes doesn´t line up in perspective with the center line, maybe some planar studies? The screen left eye is bigger and seems to be a bit big, and i think the nose ridge should cover more of the screen right eye.
Keep it up, man!
Thanks Alrap
Ludic, Flaskpost, many thanks for the crits, I'll take them into account
necroidus that was made just in photoshop using 'timeline".was pretty fun!
