Nice improvement, dude. Looks like you've been having some fun (the comic, etc). The girl knight was pretty good.

    Looking forward to more!

Your cartoony stuff is fantastic. I think your images could use some more thought on the value range. Quick way to check: In Photoshop, desaturate your image and increase the contrast, see if it still holds the value information you wanted.

fuck me, i checked page number 15 too. really love the graphic novel, and your logos.
    you´re studying graphic design?

i feel the latest guy need some more contrast, darker and more saturated shadows perhaps? not sure how far along the rendering you are though.
the design feels oddly symmetrical as well, i´d try to break it up even more, and maybe tip the head?

Thanks I minored in graphic design in college

With the bug guy I wanted to make it kind of psychedelic and 'graphic-designy' looking rather than realistic hence the focus on different hues and not a lot of contrast in saturation, and the symmetry. Supposed to go on an album cover or something like that, not a creature design

Thanks much for your input though and I did add a bit more contrast to see how it goes

Still need to go a bit further with the hues I think

Hey Ian, liking the forms in the alien's head... it reads pretty well.

Have you tried a levels adjust for contrast? Seems you could push your darks a whole lot more. Nice character and nice work!

Thanks for the input I don't want to go to the point of the form reading too strongly since I want it to be fairly flat, but I added a bit of contrast, how does this look?

Also today I made a music blog Can't really call it an original web design since all I did was play with the CSS in Blogspot, but it still took several hours and I want to post http://liffeymusicetc.blogspot.com/

Nice work on that. Very nice work and good level up.

If you wanted to make it a bit stronger...

On the neck, in particular, the cores of the shadow on each of the sections could maybe have the saturation lowered, or right before the terminator on the core of the shadows, make the colors more saturated... as the form turns away, drop the saturation.

You can do that in an adjustment layer, or even easier in a regular layer with saturation as the blending mode.

You should be proud of this piece. Significant improvement

Thanks very much! I will definitely give that suggestion a go

Bit more work on this armor lady, I think it needs some kind of red accessories added on the body somewhere. Also some texture on the armor with I kinda suck at

The armor looks badass. Really nice work on the shapes; she looks kind of uncomfortable, though

Maybe her face is a bit large... that right eye seems to want to move too far away from the front plane of her face. Or maybe it's just a tad high/large.

Thanks! Yeah the face was bugging me too. Still a bit long maybe.

Here this is pretty close to finished, I'll wait to see what y'all think I should fix. Might do a back view soon:

You're right! Didn't think it was that easy to spot, haha. With the small image I uploaded I can't even really see it myself.

Edit: this post was in reply to someone who deleted their post for some reason they identified one of the brushes i used as whit's. check out his download which includes his brushes, very handy.

Had a lot of pages to catch up on. The coloured work is looking good. That armour looks very uncomfortable, which might explain her expression. How wide is her waist underneath it? And those hands don't look very functional; scratching out eyes can't be the best use.

Yeah the armor is a bit goofy, meant to be a brute force armor, claws are just part of the gauntlet for extra damage or something Whole thing isn't that functional looking so I'll probably move to another design

    Hey Ian!

You tend to make the shadow tones very desaturated. Most times they go into a greyish color.

But nice self portrait! I love the reflections on the windows on the bus.
