I Feel you've got a really good sence of mystery and evocation of something deep and profound here. my only crit is the composition .....you could add standing stones that go beyond the limits of the composition that frame he center of interest better.............. In saying that I love your work on this.................

Stahlrollin:thanks for understanding the message here, mystery, dark poetic lanscapes ,more like painting a vision than a concept really...

    here are my first images as an illustrator;
the purpose was to share my visions and open to a new worlds...hope i've succeeded...

    BURNING SOULS:
"This is a place in between worlds...
...a place for the burning souls...
...a place where THE GATE is waiting...
    ...waiting and calling...
soon , a new world will host them...
a dark or light one...only the gate knows..."

    the second is :
    AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS:
    inspired by HP LOVECRAFT.

I like the second one the best. It reminds me of a scene from The Day After Tomorrow, but with cool mysterious artifacts or building in the back (which are vaguely similar to the shield generators from The Empire Strike Back).

thanks for the kind words ,makes the heart feel good

and yes,for me an image comes from a vision ,and with a little story ,sure anyone can see what he wants in any piece of art,but i have also my own background stories that goes with my pictures...that's how i work!

    the OBSERVER

this is the "OBSERVER" in the famous observatory known as"SIC TRANSIT GLORIA MUNDI"... named after an old EARTH language.

it is seen above what is believed to be the TAURUS-9 ocean-world in the orion belt...
it's by the way a planet wich is very close to EARTH atmosphere ,the earth that is now a forbidden sanctuary...

    Hyperdrive exit

This is the USS barracuda, exiting from a wormhole hyperdrive-jump...tachyonic propulsion were used by the small fleet to exit from it.
the blurring of the stars comes from the menkeiev/mac coy effect, it’s due to the parallax of the stars ;the ship goes instantly from point A to point B in a matter of millisecond and the observer-probe has to adjust enormous distances in that time when virtually it hasn't moved at all ,thus producing a blur.

(this one is very old school styled by purpose; again ,somewhat FOSS and HARLOCK inspired)
    comments greatly welcomed!

That last one is pretty dang cool.
The sense of depth you get from the contrast in distance is really obvious. But what I love most is the superb lighting. That is done really well.
    Nice job.

hi ,this was my entry for the newborn contest (edited)

...Once there were giants walking on this earth, fighting each other........fighting for what? For whom? Nobody knows.......it was such a long time ago, it has all been forgotten in the shadows of time.........now, those almost indestructible shells are the foundations of newborn cities...

    thanks a lot!

well ,i paint for 9 month now
previously it was only textures for models...
and i draw on paper in B&W since i"m a kid ,but never had the courage to go full painting and colors...
i don't have a book ,i look at a lot of illustrations, read some tutos, and take all critics seriously...

for characters it's better to have refs (take photos of your friends for exemple
and always use images for references.and of course a lot of work
to get good you must never stop

I never heard that, perhaps because i'm german? ^^

So you used refs for your characters.
    Nice to know
    Thank u!
