This one was going to be for Creature of the Week, but never got past the sketchbook stage... so I figured I'd post it over here.

    Nice pencil work. Moar.
The first step - especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money - the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art.

    More coming up!

In progress study of a German Wirehaired Pointer. Still playing with how I do my digital work... (the pose is from a book, changed colors... unsure if I'll bother with a backgrounds as I am really working on digital coloration fur/muscle interplay).

    Thoughts?

He considered sitting and smoking on the landing page of my website, but then backed out. So now he'll just chill....

    6 Legger

He was going to be for COW and then wasn't... for random reasons. But here ya go. Idea is that he is a six legged riding 'lizard' thing. The odd formations mimic rock lichen on his home planet. They need these lizard guys as the riders live high up in the formations and the 'lizards' have suctiony feet to enable them to scramble up and down the cliffs swiftly.

Hmm, I think his hind leg might need a little more attention; just looks a little stiff and/or unfinished As often as I leave things unfinished, I should know

Your stuff looks pretty sweet Show us more!

I completely agree. I redid that leg a few times, and really need to practice back legs and how they attach to feet more when in a laying position, he does look stiff. Thanks for the critique!

6 Legger - is his tail floating or resting on the rock?

I'd love to see you experiment with some different coloring styles or maybe do come color studies. I think you've got real life in your linework and your colors aren't giving the impact that the lines give.
I noticed on your website that you do a lot of watercolors and you've done some murals too ^^ Have you ever tried traditional oils? I think experimenting with some richer and deeper colors would compliment your sketches quite nicely. It looks like your trying that in these pieces but it always helps to do some traditional studies to get a feel for it before emulating something you've never tried before in digital. Maybe you could even try some underpainting

Keep posting, I really do love where you're heading with your art

    -HAWK-

The tail was supposed to be resting, but thanks! I see what you mean, oops!

I agree that most of my colors aren't giving the life of my line work. My most recent experiments have been like the attachment below, and I am really pleased with it. I have played with oils, but it has been years. I may play with them some again... I truly love watercolors though. What do you think of this...

Thanks! I am working on trying to give my colors the same life, delicacy, and breadth that I feel that my line work has... I don't think I'm there yet, but I'm trying!

I love your lines. Your dragons are amazing! Draw more so I can show my boyfriend (he adores dragons).

But the horse is really nice too! Did you use a reference or all from your head?

Thanks. I love doing creatures. I need to post more! I update DA regularly and forget CA sometimes :/ I am actually going to start work on another dragon for my brother soon, so you can see that too. I had a loose ref for the horse, but redid mane and ears. Horses come pretty naturally to me as I grew up with them.

Hi Laura! Thanks for the comment in my sketchbook. There's some really nice stuff in here. I checked out youe website and the watercolor pics are really nice. I LOVE watercolors but I haven't done anything with them in years. I bought a set of watercolor pencils a few years ago and found them to be very different from working with a brush. I didn't really give them enough of a chance though...

NicG - Thanks, Watercolors are a very unique medium. I've discovered that my love for them seems rare And watercolor pencils truly are a whole 'nother beast! Good luck if you play with them, it is a lot of fun. I think the best way to go about it is with a loose approach at first and then tighten, but that is just how I look at it

miycko - Thanks. Most of them are, as it is just sketches, things I am not sure about or doodled with

    I'll post more this afternoon
