Most of them look great, but some (like the lava pools) look more abstract or less finished than the others.

Delightful landscapes that makes me all warm and happy inside - thanks for posting these and for the reference and discussion on page 9 (253).

I'll be around as long as you keep producing these crème de la crème pieces, not to mention what I'll do as you progress? ah this could prove harmful for my person

    Holy cow!
Superb paintings you've got here. My favourite is the desert painting from post #59. Wonderful texture in all of you're environments and I really like your pencils too.

HolyWOW! Those pictures are fantastic I've never been able to draw even a simple background so I might be a bit overly amazed by these but just... wow. You sure have the talent!

And I must say, all these backgrounds look so living, even those which don't really have anything living in them.
Even those pictures that you say are failed, look good :3 And I see a lot of improvement along the way!

I can't really draw backgrounds no matter how hard I try do if it's not too much asked, could you give some tips? Like... How do you start the pictures? I usually draw a sketch or then some random shapes but both ways fail badly :C

Nina Ramsvik: Thanks alot glad u like them! As for tips how to start, well I start a picture many ways, but I think observe real life colors, values how material and such will be a big help, having and understanding about that.

Im always observing stuff in real life and it really does help alot, for example during the summer I noticed in the woods, the only real dark darks in terms in values are at the bottom of rocks or holes created from roots and such, due to the light from the sun/the sky cannot reach it.

But anyway, starting a picture can be done with a photo as an base, I do it sometimes, But generally Im blocking in the big shapes and values, after that you can find reference, or work from your head applying stuff u know about form, values colors.

I think my process could be similar most of the time to m@'s video
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC8DrgcVqo4

But there is no right way to do it but observing life, understanding it, how shadow works, how the bouncelight from your hand change the color of a small part of a wall if u hold it close enough, looking at other people working, digital and traditional, reading books its all gonna help.

And yeh I have done alot of environments, and I have screwed up even more!
I think just do alot of them ,practice, failing, thinking ,analyzing it, is very important.

MoKhi: Thanks alot glad u like them!
jimmiegrunde: Thanks alot!, yeh I have to do more pencils!
    Ravenseye: Ah cheers!
Mishkin275: Thankyou Mishkin, yeh you too, nice to see you still doing them! I will try to join it more often!
Mtr: Ah thanks alot, yeh thats how I learn too, looking at old master and todays contemporaries!
dan liimatta: Ah thanks alot, glad u like it!, I will try keep doing them
Mark Tarrisse: Thanks!, yeh I will have to study alot more of that.
Rushlord: Thanks, nah there is better ones
Howie: Thanks alot, sure u can, keep on practicing!, I will try leave u some feedback soon
Dahami: Thanks alot, yeh they are sketches
SnobbyOo: Thanks alot glad u like them!
    llex_paul: Thanks! yeh
walnut: Ah cheers! glad u dig them
jordyskateboardy: Thankyou!, glad u enjoy them! yeh edges is something I try work on. glad I can inspire some!
Jackwhat: Ah glad u liked them, yeh I try to reply to everyone thats why I sometimes update rather long inbetween as it takes hours to do!.

Yeh if it was the artrenewal link than im sorry for that, it seems like they changed their site structure completelty not long ago and all my bookmarks of my favorite artists there are gone, or well I just have to update all my links, but thats gonna take many hours:/

Thanks, I hope u had a good xmas and newyears too!
engelhardt: Thanks glad u like my stuff!, hehe yeh man I hate that feeling but I guess thats human nature.
    Mr.Juicy: Thanks!
Yngvill: Thanks alot, im glad u like them!
cdejong: Cheers, thanks glad I can inspire some.
    Dished: Thanks alot!
Cam Sykes: Thank you!, hehe glad I can inspire u to do some, yeh I think its important to do different ones in different environments and moods!.
    Benjie: Thanks glad u did!
Lakeland: Thanks alot! yeh I think it was the curse of digital stamp brushes and me not enough experience towars more traditonal art and maybe me having an underdeveloped sence for whats looks good or not, something I need to develope more! hah.
So thats what I did alot early on when I sucked at environments even more, I have a little different approach now, so im definitly working alot slower and more carful about my marks, maybe too slow!

But thanks alot for your input superuseful!.
    Verehin: Thaaanks!.

here is an environment I did quite recently, the concept is Pirate Theme, frozen in an unexpected iceage.

This ships mouth has became the entrance leading into the ice tunnel filled with cool transparant light and frozen fish!, not visualized in this
picture as we stand right outside the location, but its the idea.

    Tell me what u think.

The fact that the side of the ship looks like a gigantic monster mouth is a little distracting. But other than that I love it, especially the way the icy snow is rendered.

Also, HOLY SHIT I LOVE THE ENVIROS ON THE PREVIOUS PAGE!
they were so good I had to caps rape your sketchbook.

darknight: Thanks, ah yeh, the boat's mouth itself is the entrance, like those big cave entrances that looks like a dragons head with a mouth open you can walk in, often done in conceptarts.

The image is really just about that evil looking ship and the ice, the stuff I wrote about it being an entrance for a tunnel, is just some backstory I came up with for fun,so its not featured in this picture, but more like something cool for the viewer to think about.
But yeh I wrote it abit confusing as that part is not shown

Aww , I might try to do some eow soon!
Oranje Joe: Thanks glad u liked it, yeh its the idea of the picture to have the boat looking like an shark or something similar, but yeh maybe I overdid it abit

Oooo...PRETTY! I find the blue glow a bit confusing because it seems to only affect the snnow and ice of the bg and I don't know if it's a glow from the cave or what.

Gilles: Thanks alot, im glad u like it
Pixie Trick: Thanks! oh its blue glow just do indicate it is sort of water/ice material, but also just to make the boat come forward abit, plus it sort of looked cool in the composition.

But yeh maybe its not effecting the wood and surrounding parts enough, I was abit carful on that.
Also what might cause confusion is that the ice on top left is not blue, the reason for it is there is snow on top of it. but yeh might fix that later.

RaistlinTheDark: Hehe, thanks! I generally just do small sketches on paper , these are done in photoshop and they have taken many hours each to do. But I never really count how long they take exacly.

Been screwing around with this picture a long time but yeh input always welcome.

I love the colours, architecture and atmosphere, but the composition and perspective could use some work. Actually, I really like post 288. I guess I missed it before.

I see what you mean about the glow.... omg! I saw the shark! hehehe...

    Great work as always!

Your work is so inspiring! Although I can't really tell what the thing in the center of your last painting is... I just love the colours. As in every piece you showed so far. I also like those trees with their bushy leaves and your brushwork.

algenpfleger: Thanks man! will do keep up your stuff too!

AvisNocturna: Ah thanks alot, yeh its suppose to be a wierd design building but I didnt use any reference so it turned to shit

Pixie Trick: Thanks! yeh I have been messing with the composition abit, right now it all leans toward the right side of the picture, but yeh I sort of started to getting annoyed by the picture anyway so im not really gonna try save it atleast not for now
I still suck at perspective, well the building should be in 2 point so I would need to make all the horizontal lines lean more towards a vanish point slightly.

Main issue I ran into is, I dont have the knowledge to fix all the foreshortning and stuff on the building, the building is such a wierd shape.

But I could have solved it all by starting with a 3d model after doing a small thumb of the picture:d but yeh I put that picture on the ice for a while.

Thanks for your input like always!

SnobbyOo: glad u liked em! thank you

    Brushcommander: Thankyou very mutch!

Here is a picture I sort of finished today. tried to keep it sort of simple and loose, I still might adjust some stuff, cuz its most likely gonna be in the portfolio review next week in the discovery program.
