Stroke direction and brush tip.

I see a lot of people using square brushes and texture brushes, and I was wondering what settings to use.

In photoshop – is it possible to get the brush tip to follow the direction of the brush strokes, kinda like in Painter or ArtRage? Or is it some kind of plug in.

When I use a square brush I get a ragged edge to the stroke.

If you get a ragged edge turn up the spacing on the brush, and make sure it's 100% opaque. Then if you want it to follow the direction of the brush, set the angle jitter to "direction", and it should follow the direction of your stroke.

Thanks a lot. I can't believe I hadn't found angle jitter before. Seems like a pretty basic function. Now I'm ready to use other brushes than the round one.

(Oh, the ragged edge is what happens when you haven't clicked angle jitter and make a diagonal stroke with a square brush)
