Excellent still life, keep up the great work!
Now THAT was a pleasure to look through. Damn inspiring, if I didn't have hours of coding to do (and hours of sleep to partake in) then I'd be drawing and painting for the next 24 hours thanks to this sketchbook haha.
Love the detail and sharpness in your final images, amazing stuff!
WOW!!! - That's all i can say.
That still life is crazyyyyyyy
The still life is nicely done. You have a certain flexibility to your drawing that is very nice, but now you have to sharpen your sensitivity and question your observation more in order to push yourself.
For example, the drapery in the still life does not give a clear indication of what it is doing. Drapery and its actions within can get very very complicated and it takes a great deal of focus and determined observation to define it in a beautiful way.
There are certain questions about it's structure and actions which I think you're missing. Like the range of distribution of weight depending on where it is packed together more or where it is less so. Such weight will have an influence on what is underneath, or above,... Where is the drapery stretched more?, where is it hanging or draping?, where are the active and passive sides?, etc etc..
These questions are important in order to give better expression to it's form. It is a very different mindset then merely copying the abstract shapes of the drapery.
You have to find the reason for what you see! Then everything will unify more, make more sense to yourself and to the viewer. Evidently this applies not only to drapery...
You have a certain sensitivity and aesthetic quality to your work that is very pleasing and I will definitely keep an eye on this thread.
Keep up the good work!

Always think about:
lighting! design! perspective! proportion!
And (self)motivation is still everything.
Oh, you worked with kind of lineart at this last girl portrait? Nice to see that you're using different techniques. It's just funny that one absolutely can't see that you used this different approach on the final picture! (Es ist ja trotzdem sehr malerisch.)
By the way, I love this golden flower pattern on her clothes.
The picture idea with the guy and his open head seems interesting, but for me there is something missing. The composition is a bit boring... Maybe you could change the perspective of his chest/body or rotate it? I just don't know.

Janaaaaaaaaaa you're the best *_* To think that I actually touched the sleeve of your jacket once, thinking back to it lifts my spirits!!
Love the last portrait, the edge variation is awesome, the colors are great, the blue in the second step was really fresh, but I'm not suprised to see that you exchanged it with orange later :'D
Incredible as always Jana! Thanks for the process to!
Keep up the excellent work!!
YEAH ! MAKES ME CRY haha :'D
Notice how the sketch and the finished piece looks nothing alike.
This is something I do myself and consider a problem.
It's not when drawing from imagination of course, but if you were to draw a portrait of someone, with reference. The sketch should look as much as the person as the finished piece. At least I think so..
Really smexy work as usual. Love your portraits. They look really soft because of the colors. Careful with the sharpen though, I think you overdid it on this one.

Copy+paste??? You cheat!
Great update. I love seeing the steps in painting the girl. The man with the open head is really nice.

I'm surprised I haven't been by here yet. Great pieces. I love the portrait, and thanks for putting up your step-by-steps on so many of your pieces.

beautiful work as usual jana, the still life is lovely the muted tones really make the more saturated lit area glow.
the guy with the flip to head I really enjoy your colour choices here too, maybe could have done with a slightly less even scalp to show the effect of the frown, with his eyes open, to give the viewer a connection.
the portrait is superb especially the run through of your process, my only quibble is the positioning of the mouth slightly too far around towards the viewer, other than that it couldn't really be more elegant yet simple.
cheerio
it very nice work!. i like that.
heh, saw that last one in the list as I was logging on to my dev art account and knew it was your piece before i got into my account to see it in my box of 'watched'good work as always.
