Solid stuff mate!! Love love love the celestial purge card, and that last nudie is terrific, if only I wasn't broken
Cheerios!
Jhessian Balmgiver is my favorite. do you ever do anything digital for commercial stuff?
These are beautifull... obviouslly. Aven Squire is my fave, and you definetly have a knack for asses.
You're work is always so inspiring!
Damn Dave! These are all brilliant but the last 3 are far and above my favorites! Stunning!
Your work is lovely but I gotta say your Ace of Pentacles and Page of Cups are a bit off. The Ace of Pentacles represents a spark of a new beginning, a gift. And the "Page" should be much younger, a young and youthful child. Still, the work is very nice.![]()
"Creativity emerges only when the imagination is given the freedom it deserves."
Nice seeing your work again, Dave!
The last one's my favorite due to the texturey fun, and it's easily the most successful of the texture figures group you posted, imo. I think that you just nailed the surface contrasts really nicely. I sort of wish that I felt more contrast in your surfaces, but when I look closely at your work you definitely treat your materials differently. I do dig the more obvious efforts at broken color that you're putting into your paintings, though. Definitely livens things up.
Great work!
-Andy
The vampire in the upper left is particularly badass looking hahaha. Some sweet frokin oil paints man.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
all great stuff! As with most artists, i like your personal work the best. No one telling you what to do where! I also love the Sparkle one. And out of the commercial work my favorite is Balmgiver.
hey, it's been awhile, I have to stop letting them pile up like this! Unfortunately I still have pending NDAs and that sort of thing, but here's a batch of work that I can share
I'll get on later tonight or tomorrow and finally get to responding to the comments so far, sorry for the lapse!

Awesome as always.
Thanx, I love the magic cards!
Wow Dave! The Heavy Metal and Marvel pieces are fantastic! The rest are great too! -R
"The Scavenger" is my favorite. I really love how dominant she is but how submissive and shy the horse looks in contrast.
Great stuff, Dave. Love the Scavenger and the Shield of Reverence in particular.
Only one crit. I keep staring at Holmes's hat. maybe it's an optical illusion, but I could swear it doesn't line up with his head. It looks shifted to our left. Rest of the painting is brilliant. Love the nimbus around the streetlights, and the palette in general.
the last piece in the first post, Sparkle, is really powerful. I would love to see more of your work in that style
expressions and pose are spot on! i even love the way you handled lighting in different situations! very inspiring!

D@niel - thanks!
Dahami - thanks! curious about your feelings on gallery art? To be so dismissive, it's a whole world out there, perhaps you just haven't looked around enough?

Grendel Grack - thanks!
rlederer - thanks, fun to loosen up now and then
Razorleaf - thanks! I appreciate the comments on the tarot interpretations. The set that I'm contributing on is taking some liberties/reinterpreting from the "classic" definitions, though from what I've learned in the research that we've done, there are a wide variety of takes on it already out there. We're trying not to be too chained to a standard text.

Nice update. Really dig the last one, has some nice energy to it.
Scavenger rocks!!! Bigger please :_)
Scavenger is ridiculously good, especially the composition, I 2nd larger resolution if possible![]()
Just...awesome. I think I love The Scavenger the most, but it's hard to tell.
Damn , Dave... you mad man. That Skaar 13 cover is siiiiiick.
Great bunch ya got here!![]()
Sick, dude.
Awesome.
Any chance of you doing a video of one of these paintings (a la Dos Santos)? That'd be amazing if it happened.![]()
Good stuff man. I like the Lascari and booties too
Matt Smith - thanks!
Dizon - thanks, I'm so used to my old-timey 1280x1024 monitor I forget people have these new giant displays and my stuff probably looks like tiny stamps
Extollere - and again
Shantih - thanks!
Ericus - thanks!
Dirty C - thanks dude!
Noah Bradley - no plans to at the moment. I'm taking progress shots on the cover that I'm currently working on, so I may put together a tut/process overview from that, but I'm a bit video-tarded. Though my new Canon 5D mk2 does shoot amazing hd video, so maybe if I can figure out how to work the bastard
steven6 - thanks!
well, it's the end of the year and that means update time. I'm unfortunately still sitting on dozens of pieces (some which I'm starting to think may not ever be showable), but don't let that fool you that I haven't be working
Living Dead 2, 15x21, oil on illustration board, Nightshade Books
Temple of Crows, 12x18, oil on illustration board
Petrodor, 16x24, oil on illustration board, Pyr Books
3 of rods, 12x18, oil on illustration board, Heavy Metal
5 of cups, 12x18, oil on illustration board, Heavy Metal
2 of rods, 12x18, oil on illustration board, Heavy Metal
And for those who don't follow my blog or sketchbook, I've been doing a series of 5x7 nude oil studies for a year and some change now. I put out a limited collection earlier in the year and now I'm working on a follow-up for 2010. I can't say much about it yet other than it'll be bigger, thicker, and hardcover. I'm super excited about it. Here are some recent pieces from the series, though there are a whole hell of a lot more on my blog and website:

Mary13, to quote Julien, is "elegant." This is definitely a gorgeous one - very ethereal looking! The pose & colours are just perfect together!
A hardback? Oooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, put me on the list please! I am so happy to have your first one!
