hello friends of art

I´m philipp, 21 years old), currently living in berlin.I´m following conceptart.org for a long time.
Why am I here?-well, i´m a lazy pig and i think it will give me a lot of motivation to sketch every day(or nearly )


I´m not very good in drawing, but that´s why I am here: I want to improve my skills.So, if you have some critics, please let me know.

i just can say: I hope I'll be able to update daily, but i´m still in school, and sometimes it will be difficult...we´ll see

me again, my scanner sucks ! it´s not possible to scan any sketches with shadows.however here i have somthing from today:


I had beig problems with the perspektive, specially with the view from the bottom( to long legs)...well i tried it, and it´s very frustrating






have drawn more today, but....my scanner, AAAARGH (makes me angry)

gute skizzen, versuch bei den posemaniacs nur eine linie zu ziehen und nicht zu sehr auf die musklen zu schauen. posemaniacs sind gut um ein gefühl für proportionen zu bekommen, aber auch nicht mehr…für anatomy an sich gibts 2 wircklich gute bücher: loomis/bridgeman, beide findest du irgendwo im forum, einfach suchen

ps: I use a scanner: canon lide 200, less the 90 euro, really nice one.

Whoah! These are good! You seem to have good line economy without added scratchies all over the place, a guilty practice of mine, keep up your studies like this and you'll be kicking ass sooner than you might think, all of your figures could stand to be a bit elongated. I have the same problem with my scanner, all my more delicate middle tones vanish and the lines look really coarse and harsh, sometimes i just take a digi photo and adjust the light in PS

have to stop sketching now, cause i´m goint to write a class-test today and tomorrow.

Hi HerrleerzeichenS! just keep doing those studies! do them again and again, learning each time you do so until they slowly start being ingrained in your memory. That's what i try to when i do studies. keep it up man!

First off I'd recommend getting down the at times boring basics. Perspective and anatomy. Learn to simplify, I mean really simplify into boxes and spheres. Learn perspective because it will help you understand form in space. Then learn human anatomy from bones to muscles and learn to simplify. "Copy" from books and analyze. Then simplify and also after "copying" from books draw from memory because that will make you memorize them better. Grow your discipline and always push further. TO become good you need to work hard and therefore become disciplined. Make a schedule which works for you and stick to it. Remember to have fun too. Oh and draw from life as much as you can it will be the greatest teacher ever!

today i was lazy,I fell sick, I´m definitley ill.i found loomis books tomorrow i´m going to read something about anatomy and heads.don´t know which what i shall start.we´re going tu make a antique sculpture. so it would be helpful to know more about human anatomy.we´ll see.

first one is from school(after i´ve seen it on devart, drew it from my mind)
of course again posemaniacs, still learning something!
last is from loomis heads ( I made it very fast, knew the most of it.actaully I don´t know why i have done it at all)

Also mir haben deine Hände am Anfang am besten gefallen! Da stimmte irgendwie alles, von der Linienführung bis zu den Proportionen.
Vielleicht solltest du versuchen einfach mal langsamer mit Referenzen zu zeichnen, denn du versuchst im Moment scheinbar vor allem schnelle Posen und dergleichen zu machen, aber es ist nebenbei auch wichtig langsam zu zeichnen (ich tu mich auch immer schwer damit, weil es immer eine Zeit lang braucht bis es dann plötzlich ganz gut aussieht ^^)

g´day! today a lot of posemanicas, yes, I´m addicted to it!just sit down, listen to music and let the pen fluewing over the paper!really relaxative(right word?)
drew a few heads.
all in all, i was too lazy, hope I have more time tomorrow and on weekend!

Hey, thanks for stopping by my thread.

I noticed that you did a few Loomis head studies up there, but I don't see you employing that knowledge in the heads in this post. Don't simply see the object, work on really truly understanding it,. Really feel the planes and the mass of the face . Perhaps think of it as sculpting with the paper as your marble, think "solid". I think in doing this, you can make your faces look a good deal more 3D.

hehe you're right about the addicting effect of posemaniacs - I'd like to see some more detailed studies on the human body though. Should be easy for you, you already mastered the most difficult part: hands! (devilish bastards)

Hey man. You're working hard, thats awesome. I like those hands you did further up with the guns, looks like a useful exercise. You should do studies from life, Bridgeman and Loomis, they'll help you a lot. Keep it up!

Your Posemaniacs sketches are quite good; BUT keep working on your proportions and try to structure your drawings (esp. the faces) rather than rendering them as a mere 2D line. The proportions of some of your figures seem short and butty, you can try stretching them even further and keep comparing lengths and widths as you draw. Keep practising!

long time ago since my last update. had to work alot for school now i have holidays. at the moment i´m reading (and drawing)loomis "fun with a pencil" and then "drawing heads and hands" but i´m not going to post any drawings of loomis i copy from the books(just costs too much time)

now it´s late night here in germany and i´ve finished my latest piece.
today some sketches from posemaniacs adn 2 selfportraits from live
the latest piece took 2:15 hours. i have done it with my graphic tablet(used references).i think i have to work more with it, ´cause i have big problems with colours.actually i have to work more on everything.
haven´t finished reading loomis "fun with a pencil"-do that tomorrow.(and drawing more heads tomorrow)

today i´ve watched "gran torino"-great film, and clint is great as always.
so i decided to make a little sketch(45 min)
also: posemaniacs, and drawings wirh reference from newspaper.

yo dude, concerning your thread title, i think you can! just keep updating, draw and you'll get there! you definitely show talent. keep going with the posemaniacs as well, dunno how fast you do them, but try to do the 30-60 seconds ones, and dont look too often at your paper. For me that works great!
