Fantastic stuff! Really.. I love the realist approach as well and you do it wonderfully.. What are your thoughts on different kinds of canvas? Some of your paintings show a bit of grain, is that intentional? I like the idea of the pigeon lady (no grain here) and the way you almost study these characters, although I think it could be more developed.. It's totally hard to get your thoughts about the work down on paper, so I understand if you're just trying to give a brief image of what you're trying to do.. I have no clue where I'm going except that I really like to reflect in realistic images. Thanks for the inspiration!
I really like your style.. both your paintings and drawings are awesome.. I also love the lady with the pidgeons. AWESOME!
hothothot you've been posting a lot lately... u drunk?
I missed your post of the schizophrenic man. Those sketches are really interesting, and I especially like the movement in the last one.
I've noticed that you tend to paint with a lot of magenta, and in some cases cyan. Is there a reason for this, or are you just experimenting?
That second sketchbook page is awesome.![]()

Aaargh I want your skill!!
All the paintings are great.I really like the schizophrenic dude too, can't wait to see more sketches of him.
Thanks everyone
Kasper- It depends on how strong the grain is on the canvas, ranging from rough to very smooth. I tend to use smooth canvas. Generally, if you saw them in person in the dark areas of shadows and whatever, the paint is applied thinly enough to show the grain ,resulting in a semi transparent effect. I try to maintain this unity throughout, in contrast to heavier painted 'light' areas, as I think it can result in a beautiful, luminous surface. I don't have the mastery to control it to that extent, but that's the idea behind it.
Texahol- well drunk, stoned and smacked out to the geranium wahzoo kingdom
haha
Cacodaemonia- because i like those colours, thats why. Is that enough for you? Magenta/Cyan segregation ended 12.5 years ago, keep up
"Here is an extravaganza of visual diarrea, presented as patterns of light and shade for the noble audience, via a propelled jet spray of questionable bodily excretions, both fluids and solids. One might like to note the slightly transparent acidic, cheesy discharge forming on the uppermost layers in concentric fractal patterns as evidence of a symbiotic transmigration of the artist's sexual intent."

Subscribed +5 Stars. Wow.
I really love your painterly pencil work. It reminds me of Lukias's stuff. That's something I try to strive for in my own work, but can't really seem to get down. When I try to use softer pencils, my drawings just seem to smudge and turn to crap. Do you have any tips on pencil technique, shading, etc? Thanks.
holy moleskine
great stuff

beautiful work
Lovin' all the paintings, Rod! Kickin' ass and takin' names as usual, I see. Don't get eaten by homeless people while you're out there creating art. That'd be a shame. Love to see more doodlin' in your sketchbooks. So many finished looking images. I'd just like to see your quest for these things a bit more. That shit is always interesting, I think. Hope you're well.
Nice pages! Your shading makes things look so... luminous.
Heh, has someone else been ogling Bobby Chiu's fish drawings?![]()
