Thanks for the support yall, the kind words most definitely keep me going!

Dev, hahaha! did you learn the hard way???

here's a progress shot. Don't really feel like I want to work on it anymore- feeling a bit burnt out on it- although I am excited how it's going.

Probably work on it again in a couple of days time.

When drawing the figure i usually use straight lines that are slightly bent, so as to find the quickest route from point A to B, and so if it's wrong I can erase it easily, whereas if I drew every subtle undulation I would get too precious. It's really hard to get proportions, but it's crucial.
I usually add the variations in the outline at the very end. This is important because sometimes the halftone shapes inside the outline can give the illusion that its curving a lot- a lot of masterworks generallly can have a very simple outline but incredibly intricate shadow/halftone shapes inside the form, which give the illusion of it being quite curvy and undulated.

Once this one's finished I plan to move into paintings, although I was really getting the hang of combining this media.

hahaha Simon nice one you old dog you!!!

thanks a lot everyone for the support, really helps.

Well fuck it, I'm happy with my work for once and I'm going to enjoy it, because its such a damn rare moment, and it definitely won't last. Really really enjoyed this one.
Pencil + pastels, about 40 by 60 cm.

And managed to take a good photo of the bird painting, which does it a bit more justice, methinks. Oil on board, 40 by 60 cm.

some details I meant to add, but because I am a wh0re of the attention seeking variety, here is a fresh new post, complements of the asshole chef.

its pretty messy up close. wish i had the finesse so that it looks realyl nice, but ive always been messy

    This one is absolutely awesome!!!
I think compositionally it is your best work yet, try to find strongholds in your compositions, they are the engine that run the painting, you are putting so many elements in your works so to get proper stongholds is a little harder.
Dont exploit your gifts(you have far too many gifts), employ them for a higher, more sublime expression. Express yourself.
Its not much of a crit, this post, just something I have found trying to find my own path.
It makes the exploration a little easier and more fun.

    Bless ya!

The pencil & pastel piece in #307 is gorgeous. Her face is really cute. Would go well on a wall.

Wooow I really like your works yeah, they have so much serenity and beauty, as if the moment they describe is eternal, that's great! I would say that you could use a bit less of sfumato but that is one of your best qualities so it's more like a matter of taste.
    Please keep it up

yeah that's a much better photo of the pigeon man, great to see the correct colours and values now. The leg on that latest piece really pops out of the page.

With the pencils do you use different leads or just the one?

Also do you shoot your own reference photos for the girl/tech pieces?

Oh man its been so long since ive been in here, your work looks real good Rodrigo. Really love the direction youve taken, it seems so appropriate from what i used to remember you filling your sketchbooks with. The decorative stuff is ace.

Your oil painting is immense. Its got great colour to it.
Are you working from a photo mostly or did you get to do any drawing from life? The expression on the figure is amazing.

    Great stuff man.

I have some works in a group exhibition in Echo Park! Opening night is saturday April 3rd and it goes for 3 weeks

PLEEASE show your support if you can make it, i would love that. Check it out, have some drinks...etc. or tell your friends!

    DETAILS: http://www.fecalface.com/calendar/LA...e=view&id=9148

    Thanks a lot everyone.

Coro thanks, means a lot! I would be lying if i said you werent a big inspiration for the homeless series...along with repin and kramskoy and others. I tried the turd mixture from your video, didnt work very well, it dried kinda funny? What ratio do I need with medium?

i've made some changes to my life which will allow me to work more on my art- I have done hardly any drawing or painting the past month or so.

Unfinished painting, will probably start a new, better one using same ref, it was an experiment and i learnt a lot.

    some sketchbook poos.
