Ahhh... I see. Never thought of it that way. Thanks a lot man. I like the one with the alligator, haha.

You can totally use that style for environments, at least cloud forests anyway (responding to post near end of first page). I like your sketchbook. I think the ones you will find very interesting are those of Tensai and Grief (based on certain stylizations I have seen here). (Oh. I see you have already visited Grief.) In that recent forest speedie, I think the only thing that looks weird to me is how long the side branches coming in toward the center are without much branching. Looks pretty damn good though.
I think your ability to focus sets you apart. Those sketchbook pieces with exacting detail show that you can finish, and finish to the nth degree if you wish.
I am happy that you dare to experiment, and that your experiments are getting a good reception.

You Sir, have an awesome sketchbook... thanks very much for sharing!
"Petting" or not, you have a terrific feel for line as well as tone. Are you familiar with Stephen Gammell's "Scary Stories..." illustrations? Something about your shifting from line to tone and back... especially the smudgy landscapes... reminds me for some reason.

Shadow Stalker- Sure, it takes a long time I think but it only involves practice and consciously working on it.
arttorney- Thanks a lot for the Tensai recommendation and the critique. I think you are correct on both counts, I hadn't seen that book before. I feel like I haven't even started to see how far I can go, digital seems so limitless to me. One of my biggest weaknesses right now is a lack of art history and other forms of painting/art. It's pretty obvious when I read your or Kev Ferrara's posts.
CCThrom- Thanks man, I had that book as a kid. I can totally track my style back to images like that, Quentin Blake, Shel Silverstein. I had forgotten about it though, thanks for the link.
donalfall- Thank you, give it a try, people seem to like it.
Just a relaxing page of heads and a concept that has something to do with airships. This is the greatest job ever.
This is the alchemy sketch it came from, I kind of screwed up the tower thing on the other one. Sometimes I can just combine a bunch of Alchemy scribbles into a character or landscape, I am really impressed with this program. Although, there is no Alchemy option in the attachment manager, Gimp either.

Love the heads... Very believable. I love your style so much man. I've been practicing not petting my lines in my sketchbook. I'm going to try and scan them soon. Keep the drawings coming.
your black and white landscapes are awesome, i'd love to see more.

Awesome stuff here, your lines are strong!
Thanks for the comments michaeljared, Helltroll, and Shadow stalker. It's been a long day, not much to show. I am definitely not going to stop doing black and white landscapes or line drawings, I don't think I could now if I wanted to. Soon I will be able to combine the two.
Let's see those sketches Shadow Stalker, we can both try not to pet together. Well not together, because that sounds strange. How about you will try not to pet by yourself and I will try not to pet by myself and we definitely wouldn't be not petting together, if at all, just both attempting to not pet at the same time from the comfort of our own respective houses wherever they may be as long as there are no pets involved?

Thanks for the comments everybody, I'm pretty busy with work lately so not too much time for myself. Illustration and Gallery work are not a good combination for free time.
Here are a few very rough concepts for some pretty interesting characters. The Shar in particular is a unique race that I'm trying to figure out. The other page is probably the most phallic thing I have ever drawn. Three guys with penises on their heads. Just look at it, there's no way any of those penis hats will be used.

Haha! Absolutely love it man! I really can't get over how solid your style is. It makes me want to cry when I think about it... although, I think I'm getting a little stronger with my pencil work.
Roughly how long did it take you to draw the Shar?
Also, you should definitely make a video of you sketching if you can.
this is killer stuff, you're acing these characters! nice work!
A lot of these are WTF-good.
I especially like the idea of messing with people on Flickr. Very funny, that.

hahah those shops are great
really impressive drawing foundations...lovely to seeatelier trained?
Also, I just posted some pencil sketches, let me know what you think. The quality is trash; I'm going to try and take a picture - it may come out better then the low-res scans.
Great works. Gorgeous lines.
Please update more.![]()

Love the character expressions you have in post 65, and that landscape is amazingly eerie and it definitely strikes me. Would love to see more of your work.
Hi,
very cool drawings. Espacially this one:
How did you create the background?
What an incredible sketchbook you got here. Thank you for posting all this crazy stuff.

I love your creative juices here, it makes me giggle like a little girl even though I am a man. Keep on pushing your self and continuing with your studies.
Seth
Equality72521- That is nice to hear man, thanks.
Liffey- Thanks, I don't think I will ever have steady hands but I get a little better at it every day.
Verehin- Thank you very much.
Chate Noire- I appreciate that, I really like drawing people.
Goyim- I am glad you are into it, thanks.
Shadow Stalker- I guess it took maybe 30 minutes, I had to study some lumpy headed fighters first, they are supposed to have a protruded jaw and brow. I am working on a video right now. I will check out your book.
juicy- Thanks, I have some vehicles and buildings going on lately as well.
Strela- I am glad you like them, most people are flattered to be included, some are not happy.
Texahol- Thanks. I am self-taught, I could not afford school. I realized I have to work harder than anybody else to keep up, so if Android paints a portrait everyday then I paint two. If he wears leather gauntlets while drawing I wear steel gauntlets and a bascinet on my head just for the challenge of obstructed vision. I just want to get better, that is all I care about.
HunterKiller_- Thanks, I have a lot of work stuff to show.
James Wolf- I appreciate that, lines are very important to me.
Eugie- Thank you, sometimes I think the people take on whatever emotion I have at the time of drawing them. They are usually tired.
CarstenJ- Thanks, it is just a combination of layer modes.
Lay down a color, it really doesn't matter as you can correct later.
Make a new layer with your secondary color, add some noise.
A third layer of texture, grunge brush or some other painting as overlay.
Use a combination of Multiply, Overlay, Grain merge/extract on each layer and erase what you don't want. Then you can use this background as an overlay on any new background you make, it saves a lot of time.
Chupacabra- Thank you, I have always really liked your avatar and the painting it came from. Nice.
Timmi-o-Tool- Well my mom always said that I do the best bite-worthy butts in the business, thank you for confirming her theory.
seth1- Your reply makes me giggle a little, but it's okay because I was never much of a man to begin with.

Brilliant. I really like that building, very clean. Skin tones are dead on.
