    thanks guys !

it blows my mind how often the solution to a problem is simply bringing the values closer together. 9 times out of 10 when something isn't jiving, i just swap over to a standard round and knock the offending area into the median value range of it's respective context. now all i have to do is learn how to draw

final for the camaro and a couple new broads. the girls were done in an afternoon each, which is a lot closer to the kind of speed i need to be moving at.

those thumbs are for the camaro gunner, btw. i figure it makes good sense that when gender is irrelevant, go with a hot chick ;D

I think that is a super insightful thing you have written and a good reminder for those of us who draw and paint ( would that be all of us?!).. cool car among lots of nice work !

quick update- added one more. she's a bit more hardcore than the other two, i think. not sure if i like that better or not. she's not as finished either, but did take almost half the amount of time to do and they are thumbnails anyway. i think she's a bit too.. er.. pirate cowboy looking. might as well make her a ninja too.

trying to find ways to cut corners and fake it through with some of this stuff. lots of scribbling, one-click-with-giant-texture-brush kind of tricks going on in all of these, but i still had to literally think of form turning in a few areas. i'm determined to figure out how to churn these out with out doing that, if its even possible.

sayyyy,Cute girls, but they're looking a bit flat in terms of rendering, maybe pop some more contrast into the recessed areas and what have you. Are these for the post-apocalyptic car scene? If so i would look to the mad max movies and so on for grungy gear inspiration. Right now they look like weekend warriors, all fresh and clean like that. Lets see more improvised gear and repairs to their attire.

    Anyway,Keep it up!

Hey dude absolutely lovin your work dude!
A few things about the camero is that you have defined the geometry of the car so well and the gun on top - they have a really crisp edge and form to them. The engine and front wheels feel a little rough. The front wheels could do with having that perfect circular feeling and the engine just needs a few tighter edges and forms really.

Great work otherwise, the characters have some pretty good form to them!
    Keep it up dude!

Great job on the car painting! I have one suggestion/comment regarding your latest characters. The clothing. It just takes a few tweaks and adjustments to fix. Right now they all feel like the clothes are glued onto their bodies, I get the part that some clothing are tighter than others...but they all seem to feel that way. One reason why I think that is is because you're wrapping each layer too lightly (especially the mask - which looks like its really pressing up against her nose..making face flat). Give some air and fluidity to the fabric. Think stretch and compress.

Also, RE spending less time on these...putting bands of highlights in the hair rather than stumbling with a small brush for the hair would work a lot better.

Good work man! Be careful with the head proportions... the cranium, compared to the face, looks a bit small. Anyway, I've got no other critique than that. Keep it up!

    waaah. tons of responses.

don't quite have time to address each individually right now, but thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. you pointed out a bunch of stuff that either i didn't realize was happening, i didn't overcome despite my best efforts or i plain out fuckered up. so, thanks !

i thought it might be interesting to show some progression shots of an illustration. some of this has been posted before- much of it not in the state i'm posting it now, though. since i headed back into school last year, i've really aimed to fail ALL THE TIME. if i'm not falling on my face continuously, i'm probably being a pansy, coasting on mediocrity. not that i've turned into some great production artist, but i do embrace failure on a daily basis, cuddling it up like a fat kid with a bag of chips. in that regard, working out an illustration can be really liberating. if nothing is important beyond the original idea itself and intended mood, then any literal interpretation is fully plausible. ie: everything is expendable.

NICE!! love the updates! -just one tiny little crit, the dude leaping with the guitar is a great touch, my eye went straight to it, and i think you could evoke some more energy out of him if you exaggerated his action pose more. i was thinking arch his back alot more, really make him look like all of his energy is into it, you know?

other than that little thing, everything else looks awesome. i really like the effects too, on the molotov cocktail, and the gatlin gun.

just a wallop of improvement since i was last here i love those fight thumbnails, they remind me of some stuff that erm.. mike butkus did months back.. very nice : )

edit: that car looks awesome as well, seriously.. work on the engine some more it feels like its a little behind the rest of the car in awesomeness ;p, also im going to have to agree with nb, put more energy into him and also try putting both hands back on each side of his head and have the guitar in the middle, sorta like an over head guitar smash ;P

Nice work. The car model is simple and fits perfeclty in the world you are creating. I like the lack of the front parts and i would agree with Krato as fot the engine. Also try maybe to have more straight lines, so the sketch will be more "clean" for you to work. Keep it up.

awesoeme thread man. loving the execution of that car in your last update!
The only flaws in your work that kinda stand out a little for me are concerning anatomy. It gets a bit too superficial in your characterdesigns (of course only when your characters aren't wearing that much) and in your lifepaintings as well, especially when it comes to painting faces. just dig a little bit deeper into that so that your images will become even more convincing!
