draw with forms. The contour line is meaningless without the correct information between it.

I'll be back on later to try and show a little more about what I mean.

Anatomy studies are a MUST in this situation. Drawing from reference and life (like you have some photo studies, it looks like) are also really important at this stage. Right now you want to take in everything visually that you can and learn a little more how the world really works.

Everything is made up of smaller forms that become even smaller forms. Again, I should be on later to explain myself more fully.

1: A good rule of thumb to abide by is not to post images that are taller or wider than 800 pixels.
2: This number serves only to reinforce the importance of anatomy studies as stated above.
3: Never draw indiviual hairs on a head. Hair falls mostly in 'sheets'.
4: Some tonal studies would be good instead of just contour work. Right now your understandings of form and value are limited.

You might wanna try to draw with the pencil before you start with digital Draings/Paintings. Its just easier to vary the lines and values at the beginning, and you don't have to deal with technical issues in photoshop in a so early state.
    My 2 cents

The difference between form and contour is form is something in the 3d space while contour is the outline of those forms. Whatever you draw, just keep in mind the paper is a 3d space and you'll be better. Browse this site more, and see what anyone else is doing and you'll understand. Or study some perspective and visualize everything as boxes. Oops, I should stop before I begin to ramble....
