    Hello!

Very nice studies that you have here! I see lots of improvement from your earlier posts! The value studies are looking great as well. Maybe, try and push the contrast a little more with those. The "Despicable Me" still study is amazing and right on! Great work with that! I hope to see more from you in the future! Keep it up!

I read about that tangled thing on cgsociety a little while ago sounds cool.

This guy http://sevencamels.blogspot.com/search?q=tangled apparently did some of the storyboarding for the movie(he might have been their). I think you can also see a application of the 180 rule in tangled http://sevencamels.blogspot.com/search?q=180+rule .

Also the ten minute drawing guy(link in sig) has released some new stuff along with feng zhu over on you tube.

I think your lighting is improving, keep working at it.

Man you seem to be doing A LOT of drawing and studying.

I was looking for a generalized issue that maybe I could offer some advice on,
but I think you studying hard will iron out most of those problems. I'll just wait
till I see a long piece you are working on and try to give my thoughts then and for now
tell you to keep on studying and do it even harder.

I probably say it a lot but I think a loooong master study is one of the best ways to
take a few steps forward. When someone forced me to sit there for 50 hours and work
on one thing is when I noticed the most improvement in my work. I warn you, its draining as hell though( at least for me! )

Ypu've inspired me to go do some head studies this weekend. I've been avoiding it, (slacking off) especially nailing that 'view from below at a tilted head' angle.

Your figures are looking better now. Not sure if the left arm is correct, I think it's too short/twisted. Keep it up dude!

wow nice updates - I like your direction of comic style ( afro samurai guy)
and that pic shows improvement ( kid with dad ?)

As you improve your character ( patience for example ) so will your art improve too

I thank that what throws the drawing off is that the foreshortening is weird. It looks like he has really tiny arms, rather than that they're being foreshortened. I know it's hard to do.. actually the best thing to do is to pull out some reference. Ask a friend to pose for you, though. Cause cameras likes to exaggerate that shit.

And like you said, the anatomy isn't the best. But most things are placed generally correctly. Just think about what points the muscle connects. That helps me a whole lot because it's easier to place the muscles right when you know that point A must be connected to point B and because they do, they get twisted like this __________.

Hey D, long time no see.
I've been really busy and will be for prolly' a month more or so until we're done with the short film.

Regarding that "there can be only one frazetta" i've recently had an opportunity to finally see his painting with fire wideo. The mast was a true master, not only in arts field. He also has ruined my belief, that there's no true "talent" just dedication and hard work. But when i saw his still life when he was 8 years old... man i'm crushed hahaha.

Ah oh yes, your feel of the form in drawings got waaay better, those hands from previous page are a proof.

See you soon ( hopefuly )

Keep it up your hard work is paying off (though i personally never liked frazetta's works that much).
For a tip i would've suggest you to find a man in a similar pose to your "warrior" to compare muscles, bones, pose and other anatomy thingies...

Thanks so much for the feedback friends it always means a lot!

I am not gone just practicing and studying each day as much as I can.
I understood today that how wrong it is to compare yourself to other artists, we each have our own personality and way of understanding things and we all perceive reality in different ways as well, so instead of comparing myself to others I just concentrate on my own journey and see where it leads, besides comparing will make any artist very miserable.
That said everything feels much easier, no more that urge to be just like that guy or progress as fast as the other guy... hope it makes any sense.
getting inspired though is a whole different story.

Some doodling, trying to learn Marcus Mateu's ink stlye, simplifying light here as well, the girl with the tattoos has rays of light on her and not white paint stripes, I think I needed to put white on the hair too, I tried but failed... these are all from head

This one is from "Framed ink" by Marcus Mateu, incredible book really teaches you about composition and ways of bringing mood and feel to your art. love it.
