Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. Wow, what a great sketchbook you have here. I love the variety of your work.
Wow impressive work!
I love your recent environment layouts! The finished work looks so clean and well polished. I'm trying to get my feet wet with some environment studies, so do you have any tips on how to go about it?
Love the studies and I love that you draw anything. Great variety! Can't wait to see more!![]()
Thanks everyone for all your awesome comments![]()
Dracken- I'm always happy to try and help!
Aresa - Thanks a lot. I found doing small studies very helpful. 10-25 minuet pieces where the focus is just composition and perspective less then 6" square, sometimes as small as as 1-2 inches.
I also like copying from favorite movies. I just pause at pretty places and do quick thumbnails.
It's a lot like character drawing, lots of quicker focused studies. When you get around to a more finished piece things start coming together.
Today's post is lots more doodle-sized things.
Happy sketching everybody!!
still in love with you style!hawhaw!

Rhubix, I wonder if you have considered trying your luck at a more distinct style?

FightingSeraph - Simply put -no. My goals are diversity and employablity- not uniqueness.
Right now my focus is improving my fundamentals to the point where I can work in as many parts of the animation pipeline as possible.
I feel that style comes naturally and don't see any benefit to consciously forcing a specific style on my work. In fact, I feel adhering to a style would make it more difficult to adapt to the different styles and work flows of different shows and studios.
Any-who., Here's something I've been playing with. One of my weakest areas is story boarding so I've been working to improve that.
The video is a bit low-rez since the bg's are my usual tiny thumbnails.
excuse the mutating proportions on the character, I haven't quite worked out the one I intended to animate.
WOW your page 9 blows my mind, I am working hard to get better, can't wait to
see all the other 8 pages. Nice animations here, I have a lot on my website.
Hope to see you around my SB,.......

Today's post is some bird guys done in red pencil
And another enviro-doodle - bic pen with some pencily shading
+ some quick goblin drawings. ~ 30 seconds- 1 minuet each, also done with my trusty bic pen.
Im an animator as well, really interested in ilustration too... Your sketchbook is simply amazing, you can tell the difference when an animator draws because most of the times theres so much movement in one drawing... (im not there yet XD). Great stuff!!
PD: loved the bird sketches XD
Hey there. I'm really interested in children's illustration as well.
I like your silly blob drawings and the bird guys, to name a few. But in general, your sketches are great. They have such individuality, the expressions. And your trees turn out very dreamy and loopy. I like that a lot.
I don't have anything constructive to say here, but I will say your stuff is great and i feel like I'm learning a lot just looking at it.
As an aside, what corner of Newfoundland are you from? I got to live there for about half a year and the landscape had a big impact on me.
rokushoxxx - Aishani -Thanks
MisPlacedhippos , thanks too - I'm from the Avalon peninsula, not too far from St.John's - I love it there and hope to move back some day >.< WTB Newfi Art jobs
