So things are getting pretty cool for me at the moment. I managed to get my first deathline goal which was to paint for my favorite german roleplay company by the end of january. And it worked out! I did some work for their regular magazine and they offered me a contract. YES! Thats what I wanted, for now
So here is some stuff I did besides my work for them. Some commissioned character and studies ( they are not random, I use them for my comissioned stuff)

I buyed a skull model. I find it very challenging to paint it, but thats great

Wow this is a nice amount of quality paintings. My favourite thing about your paintings is the textures. Wonderful stuff!

Hi. Thanks for dropping in my sketchbook. I must say that your stuff looks pretty cool. I have one suggestion though. I think you should focus more on materials. Right now everything in your paintings looks very similar. Like it was all the same material. I think when you master this you will really awesome. Good luck!

Lordy just looking through this SB makes me feel I need to get cracking on more studies. Some on previous pages they looked straight up like photos when browsing through.

Nice studies, the hand look pretty nice. One crit I got for ya is that the necks on the two portraits look a bit off. Think they might be too small. Keep up with drawing sir.

this is what I did the past week or so besides client work

portait study i applied to a character for work

    random dude

unfinished chow.. i liked the sketch and then it turned out stiff and boring

aaand figures and anatomy... ( i made like 3 times this much but I am kind of annoyed to scan them all in. maybe I will stop posting these anyways, since its just practice and I am not sure if its interesting at all) they are mixed studies and stuff from imagination

nice updates recently - good studies and well done on getting the contract. I would recommend posting a few more traditionals as a criticism. I know its just a preference, but if you want to learn as effectively as possible I think some more traditional paints would help to learn effective use of edges. I am by no means an expert, but thats just what i've found in my experience.

ThomasM - thanks a lot for your comment. Yea I painted traditionally when I started at design school like 3 years ago but then lost my patience for it. I do some oil sitllifes from time to time ( just finished one yesterday)... but yes, I should totally work on my traditional painting skills.

MeteorCat - thank you very much

some practice. The skull is mostly from a real skull model. I find it much more fun then from photos

yea, back to the basics, getting the muscles of the face more clear

some ribcage study and torso anatomy from head.

and some work on that character thing. Not sure if Ill finish it

    thanks for watching

The face looks lovely. Nice expression, Maybe try not to use black in the crease of the lips, eyelids and nostrils but rather a saturated darker red. That makes the skin look "fleshier".
As you did a sargent study before you could look at his paintings for that, he uses quite a lot of saturated reds in the skintones. Just take the colorpicker and look for it

    Keep up the hard work

Hey Nele - Finally they changed our nicknames, right? ) Thank you very much for your advice. I`ll definitely use it, I hope I did well with my portait study from today ( I already tried to apply it)... You keep up the hard work, too

    moaar portait practice

trying to get more of a painter style with these and play around more instead of rendering it so "clean"
