hey my names Ben, just finished high school, I draw 12-14 hours a day at the moment and am trying like a madman to improve. iv got three years from the beginning of 2010 to get myself the skills needed to get into the next gen atelier in san francisco.

this i guess is my 3 year long journey towards that goal:

Haha anyway, Hi Ben I'm Matt, and welcome to CA!
Cool first post(s) mate, anatomy in the last one ot the first post looks the best, nice strong poses.
So yeah, everything looks sweet so far mate, just keep posting and I'll come back with some more crits.

Hey there, welcome to CA

I don't think there is any need for you to be frustrated, for a 16 yo your stuff is great. When i was 16 i hardly knew which end of the pencil was the drawing end

. If you browse around the site you will find a lot of examples of ppl that have improved ALOT in just a year or two. So, as you say yourself, practice practice practice

Oh and remember to do drawing from life too, that's sorta the credo here on ca

-rough speed painting of chevayo

-enviro WIP- colours are just place holders, trust me i AM going to change most of them.

these three chatacters: chevayo, erobos, and adin black might come and go throghout my sketchbook as they are part of a graphic novel me and 2 other friends are working on for fun. one of these friends is starting a sketchbook soon so look out for it, his names yen-ju.

If i compare those characters to what i did at that age anatomically (does that word even exist?.. nevermind), I'd say you're doing great.
If you continue like that and keep doing studies, life drawing and whatnot, I am
pretty sure you'll take your work to a higher level in no time

I like those poses, very dynamic. Some proportions may be off. Like the arms on that gun dude. They kinda seem to short/small ? Maybe it's just me.

I think what might be frustrating you, is that your poses are stiff.

Your anatomy is very good, way better than I have done. However you poses don't have a looseness to them that'll create a good solid weight.

Your sketchs definitely do have weight, but I'm feeling very little weight to it.

If you're ever unsure about an sketch, painting, etc. Flip the image horizontally, you'll see your mistakes in the image.

Keep at it, seeing your stuff tells me I'm not doing enough.

Also, post some pencil sketchs too. Drawing in pencil can help as well.

You're doing so well with perspectives already. You have a lot of talent. I don't have much to offer besides keep it up and I'll be watching your sketchbook ^^ I think I can learn a thing or two from you.

notting much to critisize i like your stuff alot so far. I would just look around the forum and look at the art of other people to see different styles and possibilities. You learn alot about different styles of art this way, and you will most likely find lots of them interesting!

evil: thanks for bringing that up, i should have said it was Andrew Jones sooner. i guess in the heat of posting the first sketches i didn’t get round to it (sorry a million times over). ANYWAY ill pick my pride up and sculpt some art.

heres a grayscale character design thingy i did, ill colour it later.

got a Bridgman book so anatomy studies coming up next!

self portrait: pretty much exactly what i look like really.... didn’t want to exaggerate the muscle to much gotta keep it realistic you no.

i gotta admit tho i am pretty dam sexy.

Great stuff. Be more confident with your lines in some places, using one instead of many. With the schedule thing in the first post, you will get good from sticking to that, but success doesn't always equal happiness. Remember to go out and have fun every now and then
