So call me crazy...but I seem to notice that a lot of people do comics and then their drawing skills improve...and I figure...well the only thing stopping me from doing a comic is myself...so I think that just maybe I should give it a shot...I tried to draw out something that might be a basis for the style...but time will tell how it will actually look. The script is fleshed out and will keep me working on it for a good long while...and so now my next step is to work out thumbnails. All the while I've been reading up on Will Eisner...great artist, great comic book maker. As well as looking around the net for other sources and guidelines to follow so that I do this as best as I can. Even if it doesn't work out it'll be a great learning experience. No matter what I'll walk away with something from it..and thats always good.

Ack...artists block sucks. I did a grayscale study, the second image is a WIP of a commission (surprising I know), and the last one is an oldie which I had never really uploaded...but I like it for some reason so there it is. Trying my best to update this so people can see my progress and growth (even if I have trouble seeing it)

Was designing something for a commission and I thought it'd be neat if maybe I added a splash of color to it. Until next time

Decided to do a livestream. Kinda had a bit of artists block...and I generally stink at coming up with stuff on the fly. But still...I thought it was a good stream.

Been working on this as part of a commission for someone. Has really helped me with practicing designs. And it was an interesting challenge, since all you would have to know about each of these beings would have to be communicated from a bust of each of em. Isn't quite done yet, but I can't wait until it is. So far the client has been really happy with my work.

Not drawing today. However I am watching some videos from FZD. If you've never checked that website out you really should, its fantastic, and I've already learned tips and tricks that will help me on the road ahead. If you wanna keep it fresh, but maybe you don't have the time you want to do a good study, watching some of these videos will help refresh your brain. I highly recommend it. Also, being a professional...he can be absolute about stuff at times, but don't let that deter you, he knows a lot of stuff. Listen to what he has to say and then adjust according to your personal preference.

An idea which I was originally gonna make for an EoW sort of became more of an attempt to paint a quick environment. After watching some of FZD's videos, I picked up a few more tips on painting, and decided to put em to use. Later today I plan on hittin the learnin by doing a drawing marathon of one of my most hated things to draw....THE HANNNDDSSS

I didn't exactly get to 100, but I did learn a lot about hands. Anything I draw is good I suppose. I need to keep puttin the pressure on. And I realize that I got a ways to go, but I see some improvement!

Spent a really long time on this study. Too long, actually. I might go back and finish it but I think I am gonna move onto something else for now. I also seem to be oblivious as to how blending works >___>

EDIT: I at least finished her face and fixed the hands. Overall not a bad study. I would of liked to see it in a more completed state, but I did the best I could...and I am honestly sick of looking at it!

A WIP. Black/white study of a portrait. I need to take more time in laying down values before I begin to work on blending. I also seem to have trouble when it comes to laying down details. Not sure why, might just be due to inexperience. I am gonna finish this one I think. Last attempt was too ambitious for my skill level I think. This I think I can do.

WIP#2 : Coming along fine. Taking me forever, but better to take forever to do it as best as I can. Then to try to shortcut and not do it right in the first place!
Also really good practice with blending in photoshop

Some highlights from a figure drawing sessions I did yesterday, and I also started another b/w study.

Xcarbon: I am gonna finish the portrait. The dog I kind of messed up on, so I might redo it or try drawing a different dog.

I saw you post #96, with the eritrocites..made me smile. Fun thing to draw, and it came out well.
I particularly like the walls of the artery. Regarding the cells itself, I would suggest harder edges.

The commission characters from post #103 has nice variation to it, good job with those too.

Some eye studies. I have lots of trouble with eyes. Also I would like to practice drawing more in pencil. Shading is a particular problem of mine when it comes to pencil....my values come out a little wonky, and the strokes in particular fail to describe the form. I know I am probably forgetting something stupid simple...
