Whoa! As a first post, i'm gonna keep this general. Your figure studies and life drawings recently have greatly improved since the first stuff you posted - great job! Just keep at it, since I've also noticed your updates have been a little sporadic.
Another great thing is you have much better tablet control, I can see your brush strokes are getting more confident and less wobbly. What I was gonna critique is the whole flat thing you were doing at first - but in your last painting you have more colour variation, which really helps with the value.
When you do stuff from imagination, try to use some reference for it, while there is improvement it seems like it would help you ease into the boundary between observation and imagination - my suggestion would be to do a still life or drawing from reference, then adding more imaginative elements to it, like some super awesome cybernetic attachments or something.
Keep updating, and I'll be stopping by again when you do *glare*

The mood I'm in at the moment. Lots of work to do for classes, so people seriously need to like step off and leave me alone xD.

Anywho I'll update when I can get to a scanner. Just wanted to make sure that anyone whose following knows that I haven't abandoned this SB yet.

    Been Storyboarding A Lot Lately

Physical representation of my brain in its current state. At any rate all this drawing has been excellent practice, I'll be posting the storyboards up when they're finished, so hold on for a little while longer. Somehow I made time to draw this. A worthless little doodle :U

A few scenes from a 25 frame storyboard I was working on for most of the weekend and well into Monday. I felt like out of all of the ones I drew, these were the best. I gotta learn some more perspective, anatomy...and well...EVERYYYTHIIINNNNGGG

Been a busy couple of weeks, stressed out over our final animation cause I feel like our story needs a total rewrite. Time is not on our side. Really am sorry for the shitty quality.

"keep on drawing" is a seriously good motto for anyone on this site. No crits from me really, just keep on doing what you're doing and making the progress

Busy with classes as usual. Have a bit of a reprieve seeing as how I'm off for spring break. But I'm not the type to use vacation time to slack off. In a bit of a slump drawing wise, and almost stop making it a habit. But then I thought...what would an old sailor say to me? He'd say "God dammit you kids with your new fangled picture machines." Not really sure what that has to do with anything, but I figured I'd better start drawing again.

We're in full on production mode for our groups final animation. Hopefully it'll be neat enough that we can take it to MetroCAF. But I try to find time to draw inbetween all that, it's not easy though.

Your rendering is somewhat nice but your forms are lacking. Start using reference for figures then try to draw it from memory.

Good work on the gestural practice, but you still need some work in the area of anatomy and stuff. As in, you have some idea of muscle structure in the works but you may benefit from a more general and holistic approach to your studies. You colour understanding works for what you do, but again it will not help unless you work on the fundamentals... so keep doing it! Because once you nail down the basics of anatomy and so forth you will be able to do whatever you want! Also, you should try to do some environmental studies. I feel you'd be good at it from your basic knowledge and treatment of colour. Look forward to seeing some more updates!

PS: what I mean is in general, your use of colour is what is strongest in your work, so take advantage.

If I wanna get better I really need to start challenging myself, and to stop worrying about how much I suck at drawing unfamiliar things. Its not about perfection, its about improvement. Trying to shift my mind to be more open, to look at the whole picture instead of just a tiny part. Critiques and suggestions are always appreciated, and now is the time for me to hear them so I can continue to improve.

Some quick gestures/stick figures I drew from my head. Spur of the moment type stuff. I need a job so I can do some life drawing classes. I suspect that'd really help me out. In the meantime the best I can do is images and bridgman books.

This took quite a while, which clearly means I need to do more painting, and more portraits. The skin tones came out wonky, but overall I feel like it was a good attempt.

Did another quick study. I am pushing myself and trying to get out of my comfort zone. I nomally don't work with color and I normally don't paint environments...so this is good. I am thinking maybe for a while I should focus on showcasing and doing mostly studies because as much as I want to work on the more creative stuff, I don't think I am at that level. But you know, you learn how to learn. You figure out whats best for you as an artist, and that's why its amazing to look at two different sketchbooks and see people who do things differently. It's an experience.

I don't think I am gonna end up going to school for art at any point...it just doesn't seem like its in the cards.

Was just noodling around and somehow this went from a sketch to being a finished painting. Its the best I could do so far. I am sure in a month or so I'll look back on this and go "PFFT THAT SUCKS I CAN DRAW SOMETHING MUCH BETTER."

Lately I've been feeling too antsy to sit down and do a long study...so I've settled for something a bit more spontaneous...and I realize that part of learning is trying out all sorts of things...and to not be afraid to make mistakes. Only from those mistakes can you ever get better.
