    Finding Those Zen Moments...

If any of you watch Heroes you might better understand what I'm talking about..When the sort of Future Painting Characters. ie. Matt, Peter, Isaac from way back etc start using their power its impossible to get through to them.

Every now and then while drawing or painting I fall into a sort of trance where i produce my best work. I completely lose concept of time, sense of hearing all that sort of fades out and my mind is wholly involved in what i am doing, nothing else matters. I'm sure lots of other people experience this, but have you ever tried to sort of increase the amount of times these moments occur..or sort of found the trigger that puts you into the trance?

I think it'd be really useful considering it'll just make you more kick-ass on the whole.

I stayed up all of last night doing school work. At school today, there was figurative life drawing. As I rendered a drawing, I started to pretty much dream with my eyes open. I woke up a few seconds (or minutes?) later realizing what had happened. Usually when I've stayed up all night, I fall asleep lightly for a moment only to wake up again. It happened a few times this morning, as I looked at my alarm clock.. ...7:18....7:19 ...7:22

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flow_(psychology)

to me is essential the effortlessness of the activity..
i cannot get a flow state if I'm actively designing/thinking/ coming up with something interesting, new or that require planning and resoning..

but once that is done or when i'm strictly working in my confort zone then it gets a lot easier to get there..
the trick seems to happen by working on something that's not too hard so you dont get frustrated.. and not too easy so it doesnt get boring and keeps you motivated..as soon as I start liking my doodle and this condition is met it really seems to help.

not easy to get it when you want, you'd need to know your mind and yourself very well..
it tends to be a quite personal thing so try find what works for you. possibly not crack lol
in the end imho its a meditative state, its good for you but dont rely on it too much for becoming more kickass!

but by knowing what makes this happen you can definately easy that up.. good luck!

It's really not so awesome when you come out of it and realize three years have passed.
