Here's a sketch of Chaotic Knight, I was proud of it when I did it, but now I think I made him look sickly. Sorry man!

Cool man, glad you like it.

Just wanted to say that this is quite possibly the best thread I've seen here in a long time. In amongst the trash-talking, controversy-filled threads of childishness dotted around the lounge, this one stands out like a little cottage in the winter wilderness, full of happy people carrying on.

Not only that, we're all practicing and learning.

I've done 3 different people 3 different ways so far, in both style and execution. Sadetar was something of a deviation from how I normally do a study: I blocked in all the major colours first, not sketch it out like I normally do. The features eventually morphed out of the rough patches of colour and value. Shamandalie's was done with a sketch for the likeness, then I blocked in the colours and refined. With Jake's, I followed the process I normally do with finished pieces, (but not studies from reference) and that's to do full values, then make an overlay layer for colour, then merge and paint on top. Tried for a lot of contrast.

So what am I getting at? Well... without this thread I wouldn't have tried these different things, and I did my absolute best to get the likenesses down since I knew that my subjects would be seeing them. It inspired me to get off my butt and do some facial studies that I NEED to do. I guess what I'm trying to say is, this thread is awesome, you're all awesome, and we can't let this one die

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the thread. I have some more portraits to do myself. I also agree with you, it's definitely a learning experience. I also like the fact that we're getting a better perspective of people than just throwing up a mugshot of each other. Now we actually have to observe and look at that person's picture to be creative, find out how a portrait would work with their personality.

That's why I didn't put it in the activities thread and put it in the lounge, because it does show more of a purpose than just drawing, and on the other hand a purpose than just throwing up photos to get to know each other.

This is a great thread! I had one almost done but Photoshop crapped put on me and I lost it. Save often as they say. Too late tonight to start another, but here's a few picks of me in the mean time.

Wow. Equality's version of AsaB sort of reminds me of Sarah McLachlan.

In about 36 hours I'll have the Gustave Dore version of Alesoun. Chriskot, you're up next in acrylics.

This thread rocks Thanks to Equality72521 and Kfeeras, I'm loving your works! I've never had my caricature done before Oh, and Sarah McLachlan? I guess arttorney has a point!

I'll be making some of my own soon, hopefully tomorrow! In the meantime (and while making an essay...), I'm just gonna peak here inbetween and oogle at the awesomeness.

The pics are being used for ref on a series of 30 x 40 paintings, which are going to take me a while to finish. I'll see if I can get some of my sketches reduced and scanned in to post here...

Well, so I tried my hand at few of you guys! These are fairly quick PS sketches. Sorry I didn't get the likeness so well :/ But I'd love to do more soon, this is such great practice!
