DSG 1459: Strange • THE HOVERING, ETERNALLY WANDERING KING SARCOPHAGUS

    .

[ Beyond the topic header description, I sorta feel like no further blurb-wise elaboration is necessary. ]

    [ However... ]

[ I am imagining that in this world, the king's role is meant to be one of service to his people. ]

[ After a king's death, his body is entombed in a decorated casing that is set free to hover around the world... ]

[ ...and bear witness to the long-term effects of his decisions. ]

[ A fondly remembered king's sarcophagus will likely be kept clean and draped in flowers and such by his people... ]

[ Whereas an ill-remembered king's sarcophagus will be desecrated and left to gather filth. ]

[ And ancient ones that no one remembers might become small floating ecosystems unto themselves. ]

hey surface monkey loved what you did there, I didnt even think of flipping over the top to make it visually easier to make an image. Ah well, I just used flats to do mine. The sarc hovers over and stands for furtility, hence the little plant popping out in the desert, and I was thinking of making the girl pregnant..(well, not "making" her pregnant obviously..but drawing her pergnant...)

vijil I love the atmospheric light, and the guard really gives a sense of what kind of world/time in which the scene takes place. very nice

*sigh* I dont even want to admit how long this took me.

I need a lot of work on my color.

"THE HOVERING, ETERNALLY WANDERING KING SARCOPHAGUS" - minus the hovering part.

This sarcophagus robot walks around town, showing the late king's corpse for all to see.

surfacemonkey: Nice idea, I like how he's flipped upside down like that.

vijil: Good idea as well its like a floating graveyard so people can go visit him.

tokuku: pretty awsome, I wouldn't want to see that at night though lol.

This was an awesome topic, My perspective is kind far but hopefully everyone can tell that's his body in the floating casket being dragged.

Got this from having the idea that the instant a royal dies they are frozen in the state in which they die (decided against doing George II).
I guess it's not really a sarcophagus per se.

"You were always my favorite king. Here, have some tea."

Tokuku: Great colours! The green glow is very eerie.
Surfacemonkey: I like the idea of them hovering face down, so everyone can see their face.

But, since I"m trying to do one of these a day... here it is in all it's silly bad sketch glory!
I like the "have a date" type one!! XD

    "Hey it's 7 0'king!"
"Mommy I can't sleep the King is looking"
"WARNING!!! HOVERING, ETERNALLY WANDERING KING SARCOPHAGUS
    is watching you masturbate"

And... I just decided to add this now... I'm a weirdo...
    Back to work with me...

    Ok. Pencils...

The villagers of the small village Dorea by the river of Linos were once plagued heavily by bandits, both from the air and on the ground. Finally, the king said they'd been pillaged for the last time and told the people to take up arms against the perpetrators. So they did, and they managed to drive the bandits away. Sadly, their brave king was mortally wounded in the battle and died not long after. The villagers gathered all the money they had to pay for a sarcofagus equipped with state of the art hovering technology and defence turrets and then put the king inside and sent him up into the air. This way he could keep up his fight against the bandits even after his death. The villagers kept this as a tradition, and each time one of their kings or queens died, they'd send him up into the air inside a turret-armed hovering sarcophagus just like their first. Through the generations, this has generated a defence system that most bandits speak of in horror, and the villagers are finally left alone to harvest their crops in peace.
