Some new wips. Tried changing the workflow a bit where I base the painting on a small sketch picked from my sketchbook and integrating textures for building the base.

And here's the finished one. Spent a lot of time trying out different graphical elements and effects. The face is the part I spent the very least time on which I'm not sure was a good or a bad thing in the end.

Check out the official tumblr for Sword & Sworcery. Lots of great stuff and you can find mine there somewhere as well.

    Tri force power

I was thinking for the character in the center can have a contract of color. Maybe either have the cloak crimson to have the character pop out. Or maybe the book glow that gives off a rim lighting on top the character.

Pigeonkill: It was kind of the purpose for the character to blend in to make the darkness feel more... devouring sort of. But it's a hard balance. Should perhaps had put in some rim light as you say on top or on her back to make her pop a bit more. Wanted to do things more subtle. Maybe a barely noticeable hue-shift...
Anyway, thanks for the feedback and on a side note, the symbol is the "trigon trifecta"

    And here's another WIP.

Haven't done anything on the previous wips which is bad. Should perhaps finish one or two up.
Basing on a rough sketch from my little sketchbook as usual. Finding to like this approach very much.

I thank you for the kind words Obstfelder!

I recall I promised to show WIPs of my sculpts and not wait until they're finished. Here's the one I got most progress on for the moment.

Baked the latest sculpture. The details are kinda hard to see but I'll post a pic anyway to show how the figure came out as a whole. Still some greenstuffing to do, like fixing the hands a bit and finishing the feet.
Not the most exciting subject one could have chosen but the plan for this guy is to use it as a test for my first two part mold. Should hopefully get time over the weekend to arrange that.

Also got a wip illustration thing to show. Have a bunch in various stages now. Should finish them up...

I'm digging the sculpts, all the tendons and muscles. You can't get that cool 3d feel from just paper alone.

The Chow entry look good too.

Pigeonkill: Sculpting is fun but quite hard from time to time to someone being spoiled with all the luxury of digital 3D although it has its own advantages of course. Roughing out the forms of something is usually pretty satisfying.

Wanting to up my game in sculpture so I've had a couple going on at the same time. Most have been started over or scrapped but got two that I might take to the finish. Still looking sketchy but hey it's a sketchbook right?

And come to think of it I actually finished up this one a while ago so here it goes!

Just to keep this thread going, just bought myself my first sketchbook that actually looks like a proper book. It's black so I'm extra excited and I'm aiming to do lots of pages to show off here. Until then, have a sneak peak.

Got some more work done on the bird-man-thing. I'm liking the new direction I've taken but still need to resolve some things, like balancing contrast and make the arm-wings look more convincing. Does it read clearly that the creature is wearing a rubber headpiece of which the lantern is attached to?

Also did this a while ago, for a friends band. They recently got official with their first released single so check them out at http://www.facebook.com/hiljaofficial. I also did the logo design.

Blocked out this cthulesque creature yesterday evening. Took some heavy inspiration from this sculpt by Simon Lee.

Been spending some time blocking out this new character of mine. Very fascinated by the tabletop game Warmachine lately and wanted to make my own "warcaster"(army general sort of), belonging to the russian style nation "Khador". Been borrowing lots of design element from the minis and making things up as I go along which has it good and bad sides.
Feel I need to round up the design pretty soon and start resolving the mesh. As said, right now it's a blockout. The geo is pretty unclean.

Glad you like my stuff Flügel! Making detailed monsters is particularly enjoyable I must say, although not the best way of practicing anatomy to say the least.

Taking a break from the Warmachine character and got started on a headpiece I had in mind for an other project of sorts.

I love the design. the combination of the soft face with the long black hair and the headdress alltogether with the lovely deer-ears .. is very lovely (at least for me)

would love to see a digitally painted version of this

Flügel: The combination of soft and hard is a feature I particularly like. I've noticed it's being used a lot in cool mecha designs.
No painting, this will be rendered with texture maps and whatnot. Post-work will occur though.
It's something that'll be cool to sculpt though...

Once again I've half slaughtered a sculpture and blocked out new ideas. Still the same character I had in mind but new design. Dunno if I'll use the antennas for anything.

Fun sculptures. Don't forget to build some gear for them like weapons or armor that would be awesome.

For the 3d lady I think her shoulder and bicips could use a little more mass. They look a bit thin for her maturity. She looks like she has thin teenage arms on an adult body.

Yes, more than just flesh on a character would certainly be very neat. Kinda hard to get to that level for some reason. Guess I need to get more confident with building up the body first, although I could just go crazy and have fun with the piece. If I don't like it I can just tear of the clay and restart.
On the 3d lady, you're probably right on that one. I was aiming for late teen but I'll probably revisit many parts if I take up that project again.

Been delving into the world of miniature painting. Still in progress. These models are from a small Warmachine starter kit of the Khador faction. As mentioned before I'm really digging the style of that universe and strive to find ways to transfer the modelcraft feel into my 3D stuff.

Been working on this robot lately as well. Using Silo for modelling and it seems it has no way of configuring smoothing groups. That's why I'm showing the model with wireframe on as the shading is just washing everything out for the moment. I'll sort it out once I got it into Blender.
