Yakuza guy, they have some serious tattoos. Yet not depicted well in this drawing. Just thought i'd share.

Hey dude. You have some pretty good stuff in here, and some good improvement from page one, too.
One thing you might want to do if you intend to be a story board artist, that I don't see in here is gesture drawing. Quick figure drawings that get the basic structure and emotion of a pose. Because storyboards are about quick reads and telegraphing emotions through posture. If you want, you can check out posemaniacs.com and do their 30 second pose option for some quick gesture stuff.
Otherwise, keep fighting the good fight, man!
Thanks for the encouragement Subliminus, I agree with you wholeheartedly. My recent commissioned work for storyboards got me all mixed up with making the image pretty while information about the scene gets neglected. For some reason, my drawings look funky after posemaniacs, maybe the poses don't register to me clear enough. or perhaps after more practice, cheers.
Back to new stuff after this, just forced my way out of the dreadful 3rd page.
Some sketches for today, I found an ELEPHANT ... statue. Realizing feet are hard to draw from imagination, put that on the list to study.

Inked one of my elephant sketches and threw some colors on there. Also playing a bit with character styles, still not where I'd like it to be. Going for another attempt later. (Looks at the Jason Chan banner)![]()

The hell's pinball stuff looks great! And the weird perspective (though not quite correct I think) in the sketch of city hall works well with the architecture there. Have you ever thought of going over to the OCAD building and drawing that?
The yakuza guy has really short upper arms. Elbows generally reach to the waist.
In the elephant coloured sketch, one thing that bothers me is how the lumps on the elephant's leg look like tumors, as opposed to muscles or wrinkles. Each of those shapes are approximately the same shape, size and orientation which doesn't help. Good catch on changing the length of the woman's calves though. I really like the three different sketches of her too. I think they're showing you're getting more and more comfortable with anatomy.
Thanks Pixie_Trick, I'm ashamed to say that pinball stuff is a year old. I haven't had any motivation to continue that type of work.
I know that sketch of city hall was gonna end up really wonky since I moved my head a lot when I was sketching. I attempted to reproduce the parallax effect as if shooting a panoramic shot with a camera. I forgot about that building, tho I'm intimidated by OCAD students but I'll give it a shot one of these days.
I agree with the elephant lumps, I'd have to go back to that place and take a picture of it. Glad you like the cartoons, I'd have to just keep trying stuff out and apply what I know so far. Just draw draw draw.
Just went around and sketch a few places. mostly nature and boring things, sorry no conceptual stuff yet.
smooth and secure, that's how i describe your work!
and i am a real fan of your cross-hatching..the way you shade is very pleasant~
and on your last page i just love the girl on the elephant!!
just..be careful with the colours you'll choose from now on..the ones you chose so far don't seem to go well with the elephant..the mood isn't there yet![]()
Thanks BlackDelphin, I'm really relieved to hear my hatching and shading is up to parI'd like to be able to draw more loosely, but maybe I need to look up what that means first. The elephant drawing was a great exercise, drawing both from life and imagination so it balance each other out in the end, it seems. I will definitely experiment with more colours(!) from hereafter.
I've been playing up with stylized cartoon style today, and one design stood out so I decided to throw in some dabs of paint in photoshop. I have a great story in mind that I really like to do a storyboard on, and I'd like to draw on model. Baby steps...
Nothing fancy today, currently preoccupied with storyboarding. Here are some random sketches during my break.
Latenight doodad
the sketch from before, I need to spend some time cleaning up these things.

playing with Corel painter - verdict, bit laggy
Yep strings, it totally is!!! The shading is really great! Especially when you take your time with it ^^
And now about the posts you've done since i last visited
I think that cartoony style is great! But that left knee-leg seems a bit gum-like...perhaps the aria near the knee should be less curvy..
And on that LOL chick i think the L made with the thumb part is a bit weird bent too..
Love her inked like hair thoughand the face looks really cool as always too.
Love seeing these~
There's so much work going on here!
Keep it going with your storyboard studies, they'll definitely pay off.
I'm a fan of your marker renders, i could never do something like that. Keep on rolling!

Does the BLT stand for Balut?
Practise makes perfect, and you've got a direction your following. Awesome.
[I'll check out the rest of the pics when I can get a better connecshion. Drool material again. hhmmm!] *Standing dropkick to your forehead.
ooh so it wasn't my imagination!! that really looked like covered up ink LOL hehe
and great job with your latest pages!!!! totally love the angles, and that arrow page is fantastic!!
keep at it~![]()
This is such an exciting sketchbook. Your storyboards are fun to look at, and i Love that NSFW drawing! I like the way you draw feet, but many of your hands seem to be lacking something. In some pics they are either not in interesting poses or have less detail/form than the rest of your figure has. Just what I noticed. I'll be following!
Sketchbook - freakmod wants to learn how to draw really well
Thanks a bunch Freakmod, I'm definitely being more conscientious with later drawings when it comes to posing of hands. I appreciate the crit.
Small update for now, there has been some other activities as of late so the boards will need to be shelved.
Major stuff going on here since my last visit!
Storyboards kick ass. Elephants kick us!
↑
Perspective and poses are interesting, I also like the linework.
So you also tried Corel Painter. I think it's quite a pain, but the oils and watercolors have interesting blending options.
cheers and keep being productive!
sure thing strings! and here's another one![]()
"ripping off on Spiderman poses for the last panel" hmm..you mean...DO some poses like that or skip some?
cuzz i think some would be a really cool idea!!!
and post more man~~
don't slack off
ps. hope that quote helps too
nice updates, dude!
Love that life drawing in post #94.
But Im a life drawing nerd!![]()
@ Keeviin: Thanks for stopping by again mate! Painter is definitely feeling quite troublesome right now, but I've seen so many great work being made from it so I'm going to attempt again. Glad you like the boards, I have a great twist in mind for this story, more on that later I guess.
@ BlackDelphin: Oh I meant that I was copying literally off Spiderman poses when he's swinging through the buildings and such. Though I will definitely go back again sometime to draw those poses, Spiderman would be among the list of cool Superheroes/characters. Hey thanks for adding me, three cheers for making friends. Okay just one.
@ Subliminus: Thanks man !!! It's great to take in some of that life / nature stuff from time to time. I am getting hooked!
Time for updates.. This is one of those rare occasion where I'm allowed to double post the same stuff on CA. It's least creative but great to get some drawing action in by drawing the faces of brave people from " The Official - Draw From "What Does Everyone Look Like?" thread.
Oooh in that case bad string! BAD! lol xD
you should definitely do them!! try hard n look at them n look, n look, N LOOK till you draw it!! dang man! don't cheat like that LOL
And it's a real pleasure strings!
Let's do two cheers then hah!
Andis that me i'm seeing there!? From a different angle!? Well i must say..you got my nose exactly!! But i have a..shorter face..so to say..it's not that curvy towards the ear
And i did a JailHouseRock too today! And i recognised that nose shape as soon as i saw it (and didn't read the name) lol xD That's an interesting angle!
Love seeing these!
And btw did you post a pic of yourself?
I'd love to draw you too![]()
Hey BlackDelphin, I'll post a mug when I find a good one hehe.
Just having fun with a joke based on Gilbert Gotfried about the Bear and Rabbit taking a shit in the woods.
Gots to stick one of these mechanical sketches in here somewhere, just to switch it up.

that totally sounded like a commercial!!!
I'm glad to hear that the bear & rabbit joke brought some smile to someoneThanks BlackDelphin.
Attempted painter again tonight, using the charcoal brush and chiaroscuro? portraits. Must.. learn.. how to paint. I'm gonna try , no, have to push for more colour pieces this week.
