    learning to fly

    Hello everyone!
I'm visiting this site for a long time now (add a year or so to my registration date) and I always wanted to open a sketchbook but, well...never had the guts to do so.
Im 21, currently studying virtual design and heck, i need to improve.

for the first two girls i used fotos as reference, the speaker is from live as well as the sitting guy and the pensketches. The last girl is from imagination.

Well looks like I have to be the first to comment here. It's a shame. Makes me want to kill myself...I really don't hate the speaker. It's not bad to see some new stuff here :|. You should post some more pages from your sketchbook.

hey canti.. great stuff! try to use longer and wider brush strokes / pencil strokes... will give a more calm and focused impression to your stuff i think.. some of the lines are a bit 'all over the place' .. but i really like that blue sketch keep posting please

I really don't dislike your naked girl and the linedrawings are pretty not bad as well

Not much at the moment. Had a lot of stuff to do for university.
First one are facepractices from imagination. Man, i suck at lines. I cannot draw in Photoshop -.-". Pensketches are from life, for the horse i did use a photo.

    @sandeepbarot: Thank you!

@Kfeeras: Thanks. Ich studier an der FH Kaiserslautern.

At the moment i feel like i'm getting nothing done. Somehow everything turns out quite shitty. One big problem i have is seeing/feeling things three-dimensional or x-rayish. I have no idea where the hidden lines have to be...
Does someone have an idea how to get a grip on that? Maybe i`ll have a look at yoitisis island again.

First two are a mix of stuff from imagination, Kchens demos and posemaniac. 3. is from imagination and last one is just a quick colorstudy.

Not bad, great work on the human figure, can't see anything to really criticize.

I think you just have to practice three dimensional drawing a lot more. Maybe start with boxes and gridlines and stuff like that. If it doesn't come naturally practice is the only thing that helps. At least that's what I'm thinking

The colours you use are great. Anatomy is looking good, too. A little stiff though.

    Cheers

@Janos: Thanks. Yeah, i agree about the stiffness.

@Rushlord: Just painted the puncher i have next to me on my desk. Done in Painter X. Everything in oils except the sparkle, that was charcoal i think.

First two are from imagination, the third was done in Ubuntu using the Gimp. Which was quite a pain in the ass, not because of Gimp but because of the horrible notebookscreen. For the other ones i used photos.

    Hi there!
I really like your drawings from life, they look very vivid.
What you should practice, is to get your digital brushstrokes a bit more cleaner.
They look a bit to rough and dirty for my taste.
All in all a promising start.
Good luck and keep on posting!

Well you sure are of for a promising start, as previous poster stated. Bad at handing out crits, you will likely get better. Good variation of color studies, lifedrawings and imaginary drawings.

Really nice studies and characters You have great values in your work. Only crit is the horse, it looks a bit off, maybe a small head, I'm not really sure.
