here are some drawings i did yesterday, i'v been reading through Loomis' books, at the moment the one on figure drawing, although iv just downloaded some Bridgeman books, not sure if i should stick with Loomis or copy Bridgeman's.
trying loomis' type of shading, more loose, bit harder to control but i like

Great study, i did the same one. Isn't it loomis? I also like your room drawing and the girl, your values are decent. post more. comment me if u want, thanks
You doin' Loomis, too?
I started two weeks ago and am still trying to stick with it. What are you working at in the moment?
Nice shading lines, though I am not sure if you respect the light and shadow sin them completely.
Cheers
Janos:Thanks for stopping by, im focusing on figure drawing, male mostly at the moment, once i memorize all the main muscles and study the skeletal structure i'll focus more heavily on women. I havn't tried a proper values study yet, but i know what u mean i wasnt observing the shadow enough. cheers for the comment.
Da Streets:cheers man, yea it's loomis, his book on figure drawing is fantastic, best teacher i never met
Some more loomis studies, and a bunch of pen drawings trying to get a hang of drawing women, my mega weak point.

I see you have nice basic skills.I am sure you will do fine if you keep up.
I dont have some critiques now but i am sure i can help you more with your character studies when you will start posting more
Keep up and thnx for stopping by my sketchbook!!!
aa and welcome to CA![]()
CheckBiomechawolf
Why can't I go to a boatyard?
Nevermind. I like your study of the boat. You could try aging it with dirt or seashells. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the crits on my sketchbook, guess we are in the same boat ;D just that you read Loomis and I read Burne Hogarth. I can really recommend his books. Dont like Hogarths drawing style but his way of explaining anatomy so you understand is really good. Draw more so I can see your work, like what you shown so far. Feed that paper dude!
its been a while, iv been a bad boy, sorting myself out but im back, focused and hungry to get better
random sketch coloured in photoshop. no ref, the anatomy needs lots of work!
desperate to improve. i think i'm making progress
gonna study the skeleton and muscles summore.![]()
>>Sketchbook<<
Lots of good anatomy studies. The muscle studies are particularly nice. Keep that up and keep posting!
also ... is it just me or do many of your drawing tilt to the left? he he![]()
Fumble: cheers dude appreciate it
Braintree: thanks! yea i noticed that, i guess i dont notice, but its not that they tilt i just draw on the sketchpad from an angle, not head on. for a second it was weirding me out when u mentioned it then realised why. x)

a page of doodles no ref, bit of practice, iv been lazy and not done any studies today ._.! second image is a rough for a short comic me and my mate are working on.
something i put a little effort into, no ref, actually like it, need to def study feet amongst other things but im happy with it for now. gonna colour it tomoro.
oh and lastly is a painting i did a few weeks back and forgot to upload.
i dont really like it that much but learnt a lot from it done entirely in photoshop, used a ref loosely for the body.

Some awesome stuff here man! Your digital painting is really good (something I want to get a lot better at actually) and your anatomy studies are great. Keep it coming.
man that last paint is creamy, and you doodles without ref are really showing some good understanding of anatomy. Thats what i need to do! Things seems to fall apart without something in fornt of me lately.

Wilko: thanks a lot man appreciate it, will do

Kristo Novo, Lilnebo, poydrawer, chopin lover and PieMonster cheers for dropping by and taking the time to comment, appreciate it
Right, kinda been busy with work so havnt done much sketchings, will rectify that soon.
Here's a w.i.p that im slowly getting through, its not a new sketch so the anatomy is a bit weird in some places. Anybody got some helptful tips or crits please do comment. Done the base colours and shaded the upper body and red hand slightly more. I'm a bit scared to keep going lighter and lighter and trying not to lose too much saturation as i go along O_o. yea *stops rambling* crits, help would be great![]()

Hi Chris -
I think it could do with highlights and some specular - it's all a bit flat, dark and same-tone looking at the moment.
tbh though I don't know how to paint a person, particularly skin - maybe find a good tutorial!
Hey!
Thanks for looking into my sketchbook and the advice.
Good studies i see, i like your photoshop painting of the prothese girl.
I only think that you may want to draw more relaxed muscles on some parts of the prince of persia guy and the futuristic guy with blue clothes.
Seems like there supertense![]()
AlexTooth: cheers, ur right. i was gonna do some other sketches but i read ur comment and thought id do some more on this today. its not there yet at all, each step is uncharted territory really so dunno how its gonna look after each highlight. but liking the progress at the moment.
Nils Raave: no problem. thanks for the comment. yea the blue shorts dude was just a random sketch to see what i learned from previous studies.
and the latest dude is just tense atm![]()
a small update on this w.i.p. c&c encouraged, dont be shy![]()
