    Early morning (in many ways)

These are fairly quick pieces - maybe an hour sketching and then two or three to color? Not really sure.

For the blue picture, I intended the colors to be simple, with details given to only the face and skin. Not entirely happy with that, I think I should have done more with the suit. I do really like the way the face came out though and the pose in general is pretty satisfying, given that it was just from my head.

The red picture was meant to be a companion to the first, sort of, or at least done in a similar manner. I like the way the skin came out, but I think I'd like to work on developing a more painterly style like a lot of digital artists have. I tend to have some trouble really tightening up the details on my pieces, so that needs work as well. I think more study of anatomy will help with this - I have a good general grasp but end up fudging things a bit in some instances, I think. Like the first one, pose and such is totally out of my head, so it's a bit wonky - the right arm in particular is bent oddly, I think. I left it as it was because it's mostly just practice and I was more concerned with the coloring than anything else.

At any rate, feel free to rip into them. I'm trying to work up to pieces that could be put into a portfolio for concept art jobs. I really enjoy trying to put form to all sorts of ideas...

On the first one the shoulder blades are looking like boobs. The lighting isn’t that great as the shadows aren’t there.

The second piece works loads better, but you could do with a shadow on the floor behind him.

Black Spot - Ya know, I was coloring him and going "these look like boobs, I wonder if anyone will notice?" The answer, apparently, is yes. XD

For the second one, I considered putting a shadow on the floor, but didn't like the way it looked and since he's sorta floating in a vague void any how I didn't do much with it beyond that.

Kiera - I don't think you're sorry about the balls at all. *squints at suspiciously* I seriously need to just find some pictures of people looking back over their shoulders, because I draw that angle a lot and it never looks right. Reference is key!

As for baldy and his mysterious floating cane...uh...you saw nothing. *shifty eyes*

I love the second one. Great job with the perspective!
