Hey man ,so first of all if you are realy drawing daily you are going to be realy good soon . So just keep it up even if u feel like shit.
2nd i`d recomend you to use ref as much as you can.Because thats where you are going to learn the most. You will see the details, composition etc..
You cant come up with everything from your mind. Its impossible. Atlest for me it is . I did the same mistake for a realy long time cuz i tought that using ref is lame.

Your stuff is not so bad as you say the lines look realy fine.

And i will use ref in my works from now on
    Thanks for your motivation post

Try to put more tone value in youre portrait it gives it more dimension. and look at some anatomical study's from other artists. Keep on drawing.

your last portraits are really good, but i still think that you could push the values more. The next portrait you do, you could try to be really "violent" with our shading.

    hello!

Keep it up, i can see the progression in your work already just from these few sketches.
You are far from struggling, you are indeed growing.
I can tell from my own sketchbook pages right now, i am near and around the same level as you.
My suggestions to you are too experiment with line thickness, pay attention to (in life) and experiment with lines of varied thickness, i switch from a 2h to a 2b sometimes just to enforce a darker line.
I noticed some of your alien characters look flat for some reason, like they are all scrunched up and no depth. Maybe start with a loose version first quickly get the shape and the depth down you want to achieve. Visualize it being in a room taking up space.
I would love to add commenst about foreshadowing and perspective but i am still learning how to master it myself lol

I am going to try to upload some of my sketches this weekend, you have inspired me.
    cheers

Seem's as with most novice's sketchbooks we are in the same boat, you've got some great portraits you just need to reinforce your drawings with truer blacks.

Hope you start to get more comments, comments are all inspiring its just ashame novices dont gettem that often lol.

Hey guys its another crap of an update .. sorry but i just cant be satisfied with my drawings.
I feel that i am stuck in the bounds of normativaty and just cant get out of it and get better.

I would like to ask for some tips and advice on how to improve my character and costume design and how to improve my shadings ability.

Hope that someone could help me and could show me some ways to improve.. Thanks !

Hey man, nice sketches, keep up the pace and you'll improve quicker than you know. Keep doing lots of anatomy studies and still lifes, as you have been... those will make a big difference. My one big pointer is: go darker. Your drawings will really improve, and be a lot more interesting, if you can include a higher range of values. As a rule of thumb, try to get at least some areas of super-darks and some areas of super-lights into each drawing.

    Cheers mate, keep it up!

hey man keep up those still life and life drawings they really help your overall sense of whats actually in space ^ ^
i have to agree with ookchk .. it would help a ton if you try and get a whole range of value instead of just a midtone basicly

somtimes it helps just to get the darkest darks and the lightest lights of a drawing done right off the bat

i'd like to see what you could do with some charcoal also , really helps with the wide range of value

thanks . keep up the fight !

Ookchk,Zorcron : Thanks you guys for pointing out my value problem i am working on it !

Hey you guys.. it's another update

This week i tried to work on what you guys told me .. to get darker with my values .. umm i tried to get darker .. but i dont know if that went well.

I will work harder on the values thing. and combine it with my 3 other major issues:

    *Anatomy
    *Character design
    *Costume design

I am trying to study costume design mainly armor design because thats what i like the most. And i am baiscly copying other game artist concept art. The first one i tried to copy and didnt finsh was the dwarf at the middle of the last drawing i posted.

If you guys have more ideas on how to improve my armor/costume design i will be glad if you could share with me.

Well here is my update ... i will try to draw some more and update today.. if not then i will see you guys next week
