Awesome works and phenomenal progress. Any suggestions on how to begin working from imagination? I am mostly focusing on value studies at the moment, and slowly trying to transition into doing works from imagination but so far its been rough. I flipped through most of your sketchbook to get an indication, but unfortunately many of your older works have been lost to photobucket. Also out of curiosity did you have a normal 8-5 job while you trained your traditional art skills?

god DAMN you are working hard! great stuff - I've got no crits really, just keep on doing what you're doing. I'm doing a cast study at the moment and I'd really recommend giving it a try if you get the time (quite a lot needed!)

Lovely work! I really like your enviro studies ... your colours are so vibrant and alive! Looks like spend quite some time and effort on your under drawings ... I wish I did the same ... would save myself such a lot of clean up during the painting process ... hehehe
Really like your sketchbook ... keep up the fantastic work!

    Thanks all :-) appreciated!!

Nicky- thx bro. I use lasso, pen tool and sometimes 3D models to get the sharp edges, and the sharpen tool! alot of tools

Bluehabit - thx! to work from imagination, I just do a lot of studies of subjects that interest me, then just draw stuff from memory - I did much more studies earlier on but now i mainly do imagination and use ref for help when needed.

    Kungfoo- thanks as ever mate

Rumps - Thanks for comment! and visiting!

Thomas - thanks! a cast study from life? I'd like to get something like that but all the stores are in the US ><

Shambok - thanks alot ye i like to draw most of it out first I find the painting more enjoyable that way - id like to straight pain too though sometime!

    Kvalliant - thanks very much!

    Todays quickie and "apply it"

Getting annoyed with these colour profile things now, stuff in photoshop doesn't ever look like the exported file, I can't work it out It's always more saturated and different colours a bit. I have to compensate by about -20 saturation which looks bad in photoshop, but the exported file looks "ok" >< oh well, computers.

Added a lil colour for fun.

    Piece inspired by todays study

hello alex its me kilon from DA. Probably you dont remember me, we have "spoken" a couple of times there. I just discovered your sketchbook here, amazing work you do, I had only time to look first and last page, and oh boy thats quite an improvement you got in the past 2 years. Great work. I love your style, I love the fact that you use so vivid colors, and you follow your own unique approach. I will later take time to browse all your pages here , with no hurry, you are a true inspiration for me and my effort to become a better artist.

See you in my next reply
So you think , that you are a noob ? Wait till you see my sketchbook.

I did some fun little colour swatche-i-ma-gigs today, the intent was to enter illustration of the week on ca.org, not really got time though lol, was fun trying colour schemes though, i'd could do them all day! I think I like the snow one best, cos its a little influenced by nc wyeth
