Good work on those studies chris. Keep it up!
Hey MT thanks for the words of encouragement! I quite liked the onion when I came back to look at it so I decided to follow along my path of veg and watercolour a carrot. It was alot easier but I think it came out pretty good.
These two are more fashion illustrations before anyone says something I know the second one has a mans face but it came out much better than I expected. The paper held up really well considering it has two watercolours on either side Goldline sketchbooks FTW!
until next time!
take it easy
Chris
a painting of Xavier Rudd a fantastic musican and a great inspiration to me- live he is simply amazing.
all for now

These are from barcelona with a recent college trip.
This is for the front of my sketchbook for my uni interview on the 20th. Basicly I scanned a ton of stuff in and arranged it till happy, alittle layers effects and custom brush effects and I was good to go.

Not sure where im taking this one but the picture is very powerful- im sure you all know it, so I wanted to recreate it.

Many thanks James, there is something about moleskine paper that I just love and of course it looks damn good too ha.
Quack: I suppose Im lucky in a way as I live right in the heart of the UK so London is only 40 minutes away Cornwall is only an hour by plane (I like to surf as much as possible). Although the downside is Im never "close" to anything. I used the smaller format so it dosent break the forum and up close my work is terrible haha
worked abit on Hendrix
and this guy is drawn from his album play, if you can guess who it is (not finished)

did this a while back, for some reason the colour looks alot messier than it really is, and its photographed as my scanners playing up.

That Joker watercolour is quite brilliant!
Great stuff, are you ending up in Bournemouth after the summer? (I am myself, so curious)
Love the joker watercolour as wellKeep it up

Hey Will thanks very much, its one of my favorites from my old sketchbook
Zilrion, I didn't get into Bournemouth mainly because the course was full but I also think it was the wrong course for me to do this time round (visual communication). I am reapplying to Falmouth and Bournemouth next year after my travels

Nice work on the sketchbook chris!! Good to see your keeping the goods coming! Hard luck on not making the college, but at least you realise firstly it was due to numbers and secondly that it was not the course for you. Also, out of curiosity, which type of moleskine is that, the notebook or sketchbook? Just curious about the weight of the paper and how it reacts to the good old watercolours.
And finally, I'll leave you with a crit, watch out for the structure in your drawings, that is the basic anatomical stuff such as shapes in faces limbs etc (cranium = flattened sphere, limbs = often slightly square or triangular cylindrical shapes etc). It's just evident to me particular on your Hendrix portrait, as his facial structure seems a little flat, as does the leading hand.
Nonetheless, keep it up!!![]()
MacTire, I'm using the large moleskine sketchbook, i would avoid using watercolor in it, as I have discovered it dosent dry evenly which is why I have ordered the watercolor version (I have heard very good things about them).
If your looking for a sketchbook they are like no other sketchbook I have used, really really nice to draw gives brilliant crisp lines, worth the money imo.
That hendrix picture was a hard one to get right, the face is twisting slightly one way but your definitely right, it is off.I have left it for now but I will probably go back to it at some point.
I have put the picture in for reference next to my drawing.
Many thanks Chris
hey man your lines have gotten a lot better since the first page! just keep practice practice practice... i love the photography btw
*note to self* dont waterccolour on moleskine sketchbook
about 30-40 minutes on this one, will touch and clean it up most probably.
got bored towards feet, so was rushed

dose anyone ever feel they just create the same thing only with different lines?
argh I need inspiration.
I get annoyed with my "art" as to me it just seems that I copy pictures, with no real creativity behind it, whereas I look at other members who create such expressions in their art, mine feels very..."unpersonal"
CHRISSSS
Babyyyyy, its stew.
you alright man?
Your works looking sick since college! rockband sometime soon.
deffinately an improvement since the last time i seen you work. i'm loving the recent posts behind this one.
Keep it up mate.
