Winter, nice to see you on here man! You know how much I like your stuff from PA. As for the Tina Fey pic, I think you might have set yourself up for mediocre results with that ref man. The value range is almost non existant, must have been really hard to establish some sort of form by looking at that photo. On the flipside, I LOVED the Bill Murray pic, the expression is priceless!

Yeah the tina fey reference pic was hard to interprete. Because i rely on references a lot (i lack an understanding of face structure) it made it harder to kinda predict the shape and structure of what her face may be. thanks for the compliment on the bill murray. I would have loved to have done that in oils.

    Anyway

Sketch from tonight. Doing character/enviro/vehicle project for uni. This is a character concept i did tonight. based off MJ and Isambard Brunel

Hey dude, been a while since I've been over at PA, but you're doing really well!

I think that Bill Murray may be the best I've seen from you, at least color/painting technique wise. But those environments are fucking sweet too, the ones you did for that class I mean.

I guess my biggest crit would be you paint in layers that are too thin. Just take the time to mix up the RIGHT color (either digital or tradi, doesn't matter) and just put it down in one shape. If it's not the right color, stop putting it down, and CONTINUE MIXING untill it's right.

Great improvement though! Keep it up man!

Cheers Subs! In regards to the painting thin. perhaps youre right, but i think its a habbit because thats the way i was taught by my tutor at uni. Thats with acrylics anyway. Maybe ill try thicker with oils and digital.

And don't worry about your home, it's in good hands

Cheers mate. i had to digitally alter the original pencil sketch, as his eyes where slightley in the wrong places and the space between his nose and forhead was too long.

Nice work in here. And great name, BTW More monty python fans

In this one, I think studying more of the planes of the face would help... the feature placement is a bit off.

In the Jack Nicholson one, maybe look at the top row of teeth and make sure they follow the curve of the upper mandible. To me they're reading as straight across.

Just a couple crits. Hope that's ok.

Its cool, cheers for the crits mate!
I really need to work on my process of structuring a face. I consider the shape of individual areas, but like you say, i need to work on understanding the actual structure and surface of the face.

While im here, may as well post this uipdate...
    adding colour, complimentary stuff again

I like the alienated feeling in that one.

thanks for the visit. Theirs some great looking stuff here. The only thing I am noticing is that you draw some of your cubes/square planes a little too deep. Foreshortening happens really rapidly and its very easy too over do. I noticed this in this one especially, http://i26.tinypic.com/vowoec.jpg the rest were only a little too deep, very minor.

I also noticed on this one http://i39.tinypic.com/34r6b8o.jpg That the bars on the window looks a little flat(you may have used the transform tool on a texture). I dont know how to fix it exactly, but you could try selecting and offsetting the shadows and highlights with the transform tool again to add more depth.

Theirs a website site with lots of technical perspective info here
    http://handprint.com/HP/WCL/tech10.html
Theirs a specific section here that might help.
    http://handprint.com/HP/WCL/perspect2.html#textures

on that last one, the hands are too small, If it helps I think the hand is about half the length of the forearm.

    I really like the enviros.
