After going back through your thread again... it seems you need to go through the short pain of doing highly accurate observation drawing. This means drawing from life/measuring.

If you can't get a model pose in your town, try setting up a still life and drawing it as exactly as you can... by measuring.

This may not give you exciting drawings; but it does kind of sensitize you to the level of accuracy your eye must see and be aware of.

I think once you're over that hump, and can reproduce things pretty accurately, you'll be ready to apply the rules of construction to your imagination work.

There is a lot of work to do, of course. But you have a great start. Never forget the reasons why you want to draw... always let the thoughts of those things motivate you. And when you feel like stepping away from your drawing board, it's in that exact moment that you must stay. You must stay and work through that problem... work through it a few times. And when you've worked it out, it will feel good and right.

Here's a link to a Ron Lemen video on measuring:

Hi there, lots of good stuff here. Keep working on your gestures, they are not
gestures as I learned how to do them. A gestures wants to capture the hole object
in 5-10sec. Gestures are not about outline, you did little lines for the out line, there
is no flow, keep the pencil on the paper.

hey man you've been putting in a lot of effort! try applying your studies some more. close your book, and try drawing the same image from memory/ from a different angle/ different expression. it's ok to cheat at this point because you've engaged another part of your brain already and have switcehd from "copy mode" to "looking for the right answer" mode....if that makes sense haha!

    hey flashback

Looks like your doing lots of stuff to improve, keep that up - those pen sketches in 459 are looking pretty slick.

I love cartoons in a SB, and I searched through your profile and stuff but it doesn't say what direction you're aspiring to.
For cartooning in particular, those form studies in post 460 are a great exercise- but you really need to work the forms out more securely, draw through to the parts you can't see and pay attention to where the lines are going -- otherwise they're only serving as a hand exercise and you aren't really getting much out of them.

Sketched a bit below to help illustrate my suggestion. Hope it helps!!

Rhubix: Believe me I'm am not trying to wing it, but it's something I have problems with.

Trying to mypaint I like the minimalistic approach , Gimp really went downhill since the update, but it's still good at image manipulation

those new form studies already look stronger - drawing the parts of the form you can't see always makes it easier to get the whole thing. It's as true for faces or figures as it is for those boxy things.
I like using blue colour-erase pencils for structural stuff. It makes it easy to clean up the drawings after with a pencil- and you can easily ditch it in photoshop if you want to colour the pencil art.

That bike isn't bad- I always find bicycles hard to draw- to much stuff going every which way lol.
    Keep up the hard work

I know the problem with the vanishing point being too close.

But what do you do if you have to draw stuff with vp's off the page O_O. Good trick I did for class was to tape a string on my horizon line on the far end of the table. - You can draw a nice grid so you have a guide to go by.

Also- good for line practice is to draw lines while focusing on quality and taper. Dark to light- light to dark - dark to light to dark again - or just drawing different thicknesses with the same utensil. or recreating the same spiral pattern. It's kind of obvious, but not many people give it enough credit! For hard-mode do it on the bus lol.
