Hey Jaro, thanks mate...well it turns out that I won! Woooo...a ps3 and 'Chaoseater' heading my way. I had a massive comic nerd moment when I read through Joe Mad's comments on my entry. Gotta be happy with that.

Anyway, here's some stuff I've been doing recently...nothing much, just an excuse to post

Ok I'm gonna have to give this thread four stars. No... on second thought some of these paintings are absolutely five star material so five stars it will be from me. I almost feel like a god with all these stars to give. Whose next?

Placeboast: Thanks! If you've got them, why not use them eh?

ZhouPeng: Thankyou...yeah, a bit nasty I guess...but it was worth the sacrifice.

This is for the monthly team chow thingo going on at the moment. Still have a few little bits and pieces to do to finish him off but for now I'm calling it a day. The Ace of Wands tarot card.

Hey Rod, thanks buddy. It's been a hectic couple of months, that's for sure.

Here are the finals for the team chow Arthur 'Two Sheds' and I completed today. I should have given myself more time but alas, things have been very busy...and I takes a looong time to make pictures.

Damn good Garth, damn good! So glad you won the comp, you deserved it.

Are those 3D sketches done in Zbrush? I'd love to try that, but I know next to nothing about 3D. Do you and Brendan ever get asked to do basic 3D stuff at work?

Hi Jaro: Hehe...thanks man. Yep, the 3d stuff is done in zbrush. I'm actually employed as a 3d 'environment' artist (meaning I create level + prop meshes and textures). Most of my work is in 3d (3dsmax, zbrush, etc) but I'm lucky enough that when concept art is in high demand I can jump over and spend some time with Brendan!

I should make more 3d art in my spare time...it's very satisfying creating in 3d but takes a long time and I've been very focused on developing my 2d skills lately. Anyway, here's a couple of other zbrush thingos I did before I started in games, when I was still learning all this 3d malarkey.

AvisNocturna: Thankyou! You're very kind...I'm trying!

Sweet stuff Garth, hows things going man? You seen Jeremy's concept of Von Clamp, did that for the Hellboy game back in the days? More updates please:p

Hey Rod! Yeah, I did see Jeremy's Von Klempt concepts (and all his others which are awesome) when I was making my 3d version. I also really love Kolby Jukes' 3d interpretation of the character.

On a side note... I heard that Mike Mignola might be helping out with concepts for the Hobbit movies. Awesome!

Anyway, things have been going a bit slow of late. Ideas for personal projects have cropped up here and there and are quickly swept to the side as I find new shinier things to explore. CHOWs have not been doing it for me lately (for whatever reason) and I was gearing up to have a crack at the Dominance War this year, but it ended up being postponed. So, here are my measly offerings. An idea I had to take the first half dozen pages of the original TMNT comic and reproduce them in my own style + the 3d model was going to be a chance to do some diffuse texture painting but I sort of lost interest. I promise to return with some Train sketches and better focus soon!

Here's a sketch I started last night of Conan pulling some sweet moves on a wyrm...sort of a mash up of this week's COW (Wyrm) and CGHub's CHOW type thingo (Conan).

That 2 legged mech looks fantastic garth, however, one thing I always try to remember when making sci fi artwork is theyre ability to recycle power. Example, instead of having a heat vent and a hover thruster, the heat vent would be used as a thruster. Not only that, it makes the mech look more intricate and asthetically pleasing due to the detail.

Ugh...it takes so long to attach these images. Just seeing where my mind wanders, observing people on the train, in the food court etc.

    Thankyou Monstertree, much appreciated!

Tried another inking experiment, this time with the CHOW. It's a little bit clunky and busy in places, but I'm having fun and hopefully my process is improving.
