You have a pretty good sense of symmetry, but what I would work on is value to show perspective. While there is value going on, there's not a whole lot between light and dark which makes things seem rigid and sunken in. However, the value and perspective in your clown drawing is good. Aside from that, may I suggest some figure drawing? Even if you're just drawing headshots, a few sketchy lines can help a ton.

Start with still lives to give you a better understanding of form.

Thanks for stopping by my SB.
It seems to me that you were in a hurry with those sketches, if not then give it more time. Apart from that (and stuff guys above me told) you have PLUS for Jack:-).
Have a great New Year 2009 and I wish you a lot of inspiration and time to get it on canvas.
Yep, give yourself some time, it takes awhile. Draw from life as much as you can, that's where it all starts. Good Luck Matt.

NYV- thanks for the input, you are right about the taking my time part. when it comes to shading i seem to rush through it. thanks a lot. hope you have a good new year yourself.
BILL-Thanks for the encouragement. I agree, i need to draw from life more often. I'll make sure my next post has more examples of doing so. Have a good new year!
Draw Draw Draw! And never, NEVER, use notebook paper if you are serious. The lines will mess up your scale without you even being aware of it. This is a good start and the other advice is spot on! Keep it up!
This is not the Hokey Pokey, so put that right elbow somewhere else!
