So, I'm still trying to get better at painting and drawing.
I think I need a personal mentor or painting tutor or something. Anyone willing to at least help me?

So I didn't like the pants and I redid them. Do they look right?
I think the character as such is believable, also the pants are fine (but where are his feet?). Also, if you want to create a painting and not just a character sketch (from the first picture I would guess he is sitting on a roof top looking down at the city) you have to focus on the background a bit more because it influences the figure as well, depending on where the light comes from, what time of day it is and if there is a lot of wind up there, for example. Only if you take that into consideration, he seems immersed in the scene. I hope this helps.
Ok, so immerse him into the scene. I figured it would be best to make his color scheme and then make the city's light values. After I did those two things, add the lighting into the fray? Or, because of his values being established, the colors won't match the lighting, or what? Anyway, here's the city's painted values in gray scale. I've been to a few cities and looked at some reference pictures, but I'm afraid that might not have been enough. The perspective seems slightly off, but I think that it will look fine when the colors and lighting is changed to the way it's supposed to be.
