I've got a pretty loose hand that, when drawing on paper, requires a great many construction lines before I "find" the image that I'm going for. The only real stumbling block I have going from paper to tablet (and it's a big one) is working my loose style on the tablet. On paper, I use the resistance of my pen/pencil against the surface grain to rein in my crazy hand. On my wacom, I've got absolutely no control over lineart whatsoever and the few line drawings I have done seriously lack the character that my physical drawings have.
Anyone else in the same boat? I'm content, for the moment, with doing physical drawings and scanning them in for painting, but I would like to figure out how to draw successfully on a tablet. A long time ago, I tried taping a piece of paper over the tablet surface, but I seem to remember it squeaking horribly and wearing down the stylus nib. I figured I'd give that another try if there were no other suggestions.
