I'm having break from digital stuff, but I'll get back into it in a about a week I think.
Anyway, got up early for Self Portrait Day, done this morning from photo... and x-ray?
Lol, and a sneak peak at my lay-out sketch for this week Halloween CHOW!
Take care everyone, hope your week end goes well!

Your drawings are beautifully precise. Littered with clear understandable shapes that manage to be crisp without being sharp. This is an awesome sketchbook.
Ooh you chose that theme for this CHOW! Really nice start Matt
It will be digital, no?
And i like the x-ray portrait too;
And may i ask why intentionally lay off digitals?I hope you're not having any health problems!!
And i am updating today too!!
I am more determined now, and i start to care less if i can finish a piece at x time, as long as i draw. I even drew in the car today!! Or when i woke up, i drew a few skulls
Thank you Matt for your care once more.
Stuff looks mad nice as always. Nice rapeface in the chow, lol.
nice SP's man.

Good idea to mix more traditional in the digital. It always seems to rejuvenate the art muse and solidify thoughts in your head.
Where did you get the x-ray machine?
my eyes keep zoning in on the hand of your frankenstein monster man. those fingers have been deftly handled!

Thanks for stopping by my SB
Man, your SP proves that less is more.
Your lines are so solid, I think I must practice my lines
Always looking forward to see more![]()

Ok, another quick sp. not happy with likeness this time.
I started on the CHOW final, I'm hoping to get a quite well rendered sketch by the end of the week.
And some figure studies:
First copied from the great Bumskee'
And the rest from Bridgman.
thanks so much for looking!!!
matt
Super cool pencil work, diggin' that x-ray SP, good stuff. Keep rockin'
Cool self portraits man! Thats the way! The comp for the CHOW is looking really sweet. Nice strong shapes. Cant wait to see it finished out!
Your line is getting really sharp man! This pencil work is paying off. Way to go. Thanks for the inspiration man!
Keep killin' the shit!

Your pencils are rockin! I love those. Your new SP looks good perspective wise.
Those Bridgmans rule. His stuff is so instructive if you think about it while you're drawing it.
Anyway you slice it, you're kicking ass and taking names lately. For SPARTAAAAA!

Always, always studying ... such a motivator.
Keep that drive going Matt, you'll breeze and push yourself in that course nicely, I'm damn sure!![]()
One day, I'mma take a walkabout in NZ (hopefully for the next MB workshow) find you, and apply my jiu-jitsu on you, hahahaha.
Sick as SPs!

I really like your slick lines in your pencil drawing studies. I can't wait to see the progress on your CHOW piece, I really like your take on Frankensteins monster, that metal mandible is pretty WAAAGH!![]()

My TUMBLR!
nice update...nut someone explain why Bridgeman is popularly used in anatomy studies? I didnt see the significance...
Ooh i see, i see. Well i certainly can't wait to see your digitals again!!D
But i so love seeing your figures, your portraits and everything you do as well ahahahah!
I see you're doing quite a few self portraits lately!! That doesn't seem like you somehow, but i am glad you are doing them and you show them to us. The thicker outline in front of the face is interesting.
About your CHOW, what can i say? So far so good. I'm curious how it'll turn out, and the figures are confident as always. What i want to know though hmm..is..your bumskee figures..are they on his page? Because if i recall right, he had an issue with his pc and you can't see the images
That aside, seeing you draw bridgamn makes me want to draw them even more for some reason! ooh! and btw, how many times have you drawn these?
i tend not to draw a study twice because it seems so..plain, so not interesting and i feel like i would somehow..rush it>?
Take care Matt
And dose it ever snow where you live? Here it snowed for the first time last night.![]()
Try going back to those Bridgman's and render them out. They will will look real nice for sure.

Thank you all so much! I'm in a hurry now, but I'll post these to sketches:
And slightly strange photo study, but I kinda like it,
and an update on the CHOW, I'm liking how this is going too
Thanks, and I'll reply later!
Cheers,
matt
In a hurry or not, Matt still posted
And that CHOW is really starting to come out.
About the slightly photo-refed one, i think the angle of the face is different from the one of the body, especially when i see the angle of that right shoulder but anyways, nice study![]()
Great stuff!Nice drawings and paintings...keep them coming
