    Kev's shiny new sketch book

Hey CA.... I'm Kevin, im 19 and currently studying art history in a joint program between the University of Toronto and Sheridan college. I've been raised off people's work from this lovely website and I'm hoping to some day have a job in the art field.

Here's a mix of new and old work i have lying around...any constructive comments are welcome!

The life drawings are between 30sec and 1 min poses

Nice start!, I like the loose style of your darwing, but try and focus more on your line quality by following forms. Also watch the size of your art posts, when theyre too large it becomes difficult to view them on a smaller monitor.
Other than that, nice stuff, and just keep going.

i dug these outta my closet
the room drawing and the hand reaching for the door handle were part of my animation portfolio when applying for Sheridan's animation program...and the painting was for my painting class, done from life ...it took at least 6 or 7 hours and its 10 x 12 with acrylics (its a really crappy scan)...oh and i forget to mention that the portrait painting in the first post is 14 x 12 and done with acrylics as well

mannn, I really like your coloured stuff. the shading is looking cool (especially the reflection in that flagon up there). and the lifedrawing looks excellent! practice your lines, practice making things look good and drawdrawdraw

    good luck!

here's a page of random stuff i've copy and pasted outta my sketch book, the pic of the guy smoking was referenced for a previous drawing i found on CA, the other head study was done from a photo..i dont really like any of them haha...ill probably be posting a master copy of the old woman found in Venus, Cupid, Folly, and Time by Bronzino pretty soon

hmm...here's my not so great Bronzino copy..it turned out to be a lot harder than it looked...a lot of my value relations are off ...and the nose of the old woman is bent in the painting but it just looks off in my drawing

Really like your work. You draw the lines very well. Your rough work has alot of gesture and I like that. I mean the imagination you make with your characters is great, the shape and form. Very cartoonish, and I like it.. it's tough to make your own style.. (I myself am in this situation) and I can see that you do have that certain stye to your drawings.

keep it up. Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff.

heres a few cartoony characters...the cat wasn't designed by me, it was a stock character that all the students applying to animation had to draw for their portofolio.

Really digging the colors in last few images, I think in the more opaque one you lost some of the blues and greens in the cheek and eye. They both look great but I'm quite partial to the first because of that.

It's all looking really good keep updating.
