thanks a lot! here are some other things, a couple of self portraits and a zelda fanart. two of these were drawn while reading hellboy, and one while studying rembrandt etchings, i guess it shows. big time.

tonight i'm studying cast shadows. they're so damn hard :'(

here are some sketches and stuff i've done the last week. i don't have a lot of time to draw these days as i've got a lot of school, and we don't do that much at school, unfortunately. been trying to paint some with oils lately too, but i don't seem to get the hang of it

thank you so much, guys! i'm always looking to improve my lines, though, and lately i've been looking a lot at mischeviouslittleelf's sketches (i'm borrowing a sketchbook of his for inspirado), and the lines of jeff jones and mike mignola, among others

nyctalgia: ja, trykkblyanter, mest 0.9mm, med 2B-bly, men som kjennes ut som 4B egentlig. pilot

here's a late night self portrait i did today, which i'm really pleased with. i know some of the lines should have been removed, but i didn't notice until after saving it, and can't be assed to go in and edit them out :p

also, here's a nice short text i found in a book i skimmed through at a swiss books exhibition, which i thought summed up nicely what's so great about drawing and painting from life, rather than from photos
"What is the relation between any one person's individual reality and an image which tries or claims to represent or depict this reality? Photographs do not represent what we see when we look at reality, but are rather a product of a technical imaging process which i not calibrated to human eyesight. Such images therefore tell us little about the view of reality, nor do they address the question of individual perception".

hi buddy Nice too see your posting again!
I already gave you some crits on FB but Ill try and come up with some more
What i told you about the sketch beaning visible in the last SP, and also the ear being to small. I am fairly certain there would be some shadow from those glasses, and I think you over did it with that highlight on your lower eyelid
how'd you get that super crisp outline? pen tool? cus that rocks

That hellboy painting Is pretty awesome! But i think his outline is a bit angular, you know what i mean?
anyhow sketches kick my ass as usual
Keep posting dude! don't get lazy on me again!!!

as always, thanks you guys. would be nice with some constructive critizism, though!

dstrax: i know about the lines and the ear, yeah (forgot to look over the painting when it was nearly done) the glasses cast shadow though, you see it in the dark side of my face (on the cheek bone) and right above the eye on the other side. the reason there's no cast shadow on my nose is probably because the glasses are sitting directly on the skin there, and the light wasn't coming at my face from such an angle that would make the glasses' thin frame cast a shadow. i guess. you think the highlight is overdone even though that part of the eyelid is usually wet, and the light source was really close to my face? perhaps you're right, i'm no pro :p
the crisp lines aren't the pen tool, everything in the picture is drawn/painted with the same brush, you see the brush clearly in the background (i just used the softness slider for blending, etc.), to get it to look a bit less digital than what i usually make does. also, i used a texture as base for the whole thing, adding a hint of randomness in all my strict rendering
as for the hellboy image, the angleness was intentional, to mimick mignola's own style, in a way. that's also the reason for the unprobable and dramatic lighting, and unrealisticly vivid colors. it wasn't meant to be realistic, but believable, in a way

here are a few more studies, from pictures, unfortunately

    C & C more than welcome!

the other day i got this nice flower bouquet from my girlfriend (because she's very sweet), so here's a study of it that i'm very pleased with. it's by no means perfect, but seeing as i've never before painted glass or plants, it turned out pretty good in my opinion. comments and critique is very welcome, as always

Hot diggity damn, so many beautiful little ink and graphite hatchings in this book, im really absorbed into your work at the moment, great stuff~ But i really admire your quick and what looked to be effortless style jump in post #186 with the Zelda piece and such.

Inspiring work, hope you can update more often!

Now this is some great drawing, wonderful line quality.
Love that your finding inspiration in Mignola and Jones, they are some of my faves too, Jones can say so much with so little, I guess Mignola does too, now that I think about it as I type this
Anyways, stars abound from me, looking forward to following your work.
