really solid studies man, I like how you're figuring out the form with straight lines, and I agree, the bottom two look the best, others are almost as good tho. nice idea for a set of studies by the way. Top stuff. have some stars.

Voxelfog: Thank you! The face was the hardest one to get to look right, so I think that's the one I'm most pleased with

wookiedabo: I'm glad you like the lines, I've been playing a lot around with lines lately. It's cool how a few well placed lines can almost pull of volume and form as well as shading can. Thanks for the stars!

DStraX: Det er ingen hemmeligheter, tror jeg... Overlapping! La formene overlappe, og overdriv formene en smule for å få posene til å poppe. Overdriv perspektivet, på en måte

Mischeviouslittleelf: Not even close! I wish :p

Imaginary: Thank you! I like the face best too, but for some reason the arm looks cooler in my opinion. Arms in perspective might be the coolest things to draw, ever

Here are today's studies, I've been trying to experiment a bit with line weight and a little bit of cross-hatching because I know it's good for me. I reckon each of them is about 15 minutes of work, hope you like, and thoughts and comments are more than welcome!

Nice work Iddi! You clearly know the difference between painting and drawing. I like the self-portrait a lot, nice use of value. I have to admit that I was totally turned off by your avatar, guess you can't judge an artist by their icon

Good studies Julius The one in profile has a real nice Da Vinci feel to it. I like your line quality and the dynamics so keep doing MORE!

IanLlanas: Thank you! I've had to learn the differences, as coloring a drawing is boring, whereas painting is super fun. The avatar is kind of temporary I guess, until I finish my self portrait or I manage to make something completely awesome that'll also be perfect for an avatar

Suira: Thank you! Nothing makes me happier than people liking my stuff. Except maybe myself liking my stuff

bleedsheet: Thanks! I'm still kind of trying to develop my own style, but I guess my style is just clean lines so far. We'll see, won't we?

Mischeviouslittleelf: Thanks! Which one in profile, the second or the third one? In my opinion the third one has a more da vinci look, but maybe you're seeing something I'm not I'll keep at it! And please tell me what to do better or what to keep doing!

Here are today's drawings, today I even tried making something half finished. Trying to develop a habit of varying line weight and focal point. I also have to learn how to scan my drawings so they look half decent on-screen compared to on paper :p

ey sykt bra Julius! Sykt bra.
tegn med pen litt a, i samme stil, du kan jo skisse slik du har gjort før med blyant også gå over med pen og etterhvert kan du prøve å bare bruke penn? Tror det er ganske skillz om du prakker på det

Long time no update! During the holidays I almost didn't draw a thing, but last night I started a digital painting of a friendesse, and I fiished it tonight. So here she is, I'd love to hear some constructive critique on her, as this might well be my most accomplished digital painting so far.

Interesting take with the blocky shapes, I might have to try that myself at some point.
It feels you could go just slightly darker in the shadowed area of the hair, and the darker skin tone just feels sever so slightly too saturated.

I think your sketches and studies are kicking a tremendous amount of ass. Nice anatomy and use of hatching

Those life drawings are killing it! I really like the kind or hard, angular lines you are getting. I sense that there is more love for the drawing from life then there is for the imagination. There is just more vigor in the life drawings than in the wrench dude or the zombie. Am I making any sense?

Helltroll: Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out a style that could be my own. The blocky shapes are alright, but I like my newer takes on painting better, although that kind of style isn't really unique (see my newest digital painting below), as it's the kind of style everyone else has. I think the darkness of her hair is alright, though, I feel it looks good next to all the other muted colors in the picture :p

super skoda: Thanks! I like the hard lines myself, makes everything kind of geometrical-looking. I should experiment with more flowing lines, though, and see if I can end up with something inbetween
And I guess you're right, I like drawing from life a lot, and I use far too long on the drawings I make up myself. When I draw from life I just kind of draw, but when I draw from my head I have to think a lot, so perhaps the drawings lose some of the life they could have had? Am I making any sense? :p

rmygona: I've made not only step-by-step images this time, I made a whole recording of my latest digital painting! Hope you like it

So here's my newest image. I tried a whole new approach on this one than on earlier images, and find it faster and the result is cleaner. As you might tell I'm kind of a perfectionist, and therefore I like cleanness and neatness, so I also like this style better than the wholw hard blocky feel my last image got. Here's a timelapse of it, for those interested in such things. Constructive critique and comments are as always desired and greatly appreciated, while "you're so skilled"s and "omg ur lines"s are appreciated, but not as awesome. Here's my reference

good colour palette choices on the most recent painting. the edge of her jawline looks too harsh, but I think this is really worth pushing that little bit further towards completion, would make a really good finished piece. great eyes.
